Review: Main Street Bakery Starbucks in Walt Disney World

We shared a few inaugural images of the newly opened Disney World Starbucks in the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom with you on Saturday. But I always LOVE seeing as many pics as I can of new Disney World spots, so I wanted to share a few more today!! (Don’t worry — we’ll have another great non-Starbucks food review this afternoon!)

Upon walking up to the shop, you’ll see both the familiar and the new. Starbucks coffee bean bags have joined the standard window display now, and Starbucks signage is prominent outside of the bakery.

But this newly refurbished facade still indicates the turn-of-the-century charm that we expect to see on Main Street USA.

Atmosphere

Inside the bakery, you’ll find that the dark woods and Victorian decor continues — reminiscent of the former incarnation of Main Street Bakery.

FIRST LOOK! Main Street Bakery Starbucks Offers Soft Opening!

Main Street Bakery fans and Starbucks coffee aficionados — this news is for you!

After a long refurbishment, the Main Street Bakery — Now with STARBUCKS! — in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is in “soft opening”. During soft opening, guests are receiving dining vouchers for admittance. This allows Disney to test out a newly updated venue and keep control of the crowd.

As we announced earlier, the renovation made way for the FIRST Starbucks location inside a Disney World theme park. And not long ago, we showed the Starbucks signage!

Here are the magical passes that allowed guests into the bakery this morning.

Inside, the refurbished Main Street Bakery we don’t spot any glaring Starbucks presence. However, DFB reporter Shawn B. tells us “It’s all Starbucks here. All Starbucks cups, many of the pastries in the pastry display are all from Starbucks. I recognized the coffee cakes and pound cakes immediately.”

Here are a few of the eats that were available for today’s breakfast! We see a cinnamon roll listed, but were told at the Bakery that we’d have to go to Gaston’s Tavern for a cinnamon roll today. We’ll keep an eye on that situation for you!

Drinks are standard Starbucks drinks. Note the Disney Dining Plan symbol to show that these are a snack credit.

The drinks are marked like Starbucks trains their baristas to do. The first Cast Member actually takes your drink order, calls it over the headset, and writes it down. If you don’t order your drink there, they will take it just as Starbucks does at the counter and mark the cup appropriately. They also take names to call out.

Great news! We’ve got another few pieces of the 2013 Epcot Food and Wine Festival puzzle! And we now know that booking for Epcot Food and Wine Festival Special Events will begin on August 13th at 7am ET! Call 407/WDW-FEST (939-3378).

The big news? French Regional Lunches are coming back this year…and Italian Regional Lunches are continuing! We’ll also see a few new additions to the festival special events docket.

I recently came across the wonderful Minnie Mousse Cupcake at Captain Cook’s in Disney’s Polynesian Resort — home of many unique cupcakes, including the Peanut Butter & Jelly Cupcake and the Chocolate Beer Cupcake!

New! Root Beer Slush in a Souvenir BOOT and Chicken Sandwich at Pecos Bill in Disney World

There are all kinds of awesome changes going on at Disney World’s Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe right now. After years of being able to get a root beer float in a souvenir boot glass at Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe, the boot has come to Disney World!

Found only at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe counter service restaurant in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, guests can now purchase a Root Beer Slush in the souvenir glass.

The slush itself is thick and icy — definitely a “slush” consistency versus an “icee” consistency. The portion is large, and we found the root beer flavor to be mild, but present.

Iced Coffee Machines were recently spotted by DFB reader Wendy in the Refillable Mug area at Captain Cook’s Snack Company in Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

We did some research and are pretty sure this is a new self-service option for guests looking for a caffeine fix!

With your refillable mug (currently priced at $15.49), guests can enjoy free refills on soda pop and coffee at the their resort from time of purchase until midnight of their check out day.

If the French Vanilla and Mocha iced coffee flavors are actually included, we know many guests will be thrilled!

Guest Review: New Dish at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Disney World’s Be Our Guest Restaurant recently changed up its dinner menu a bit, and I got the chance to try the new chicken dish. First of all, here’s something that’s interesting to note: the new Chicken Breast Provençal wasn’t yet on the printed menu when we visited. Our waitress said it was available to order, but the hen was still reflected on the current menu handed out.

She described it as basically Chicken Parmesan without the cheese. I would disagree. The sauce had a very distinct flavor. Do not expect an Italian essence. It was a mixture of white wine and green olive, with heavy emphasis on the olive. No hint of garlic in the sauce at all.

Two of my absolute favorite parts of Disney are Goofy’s Candy Company and collecting Vinylmations. You can imagine my utter delight when I learned that worlds have collided and there is now a Vinylmation series entirely devoted to Goofy’s Candy Company.
