Review: Beaches and Cream Soda Shop Desserts

On our most recent trip to the magic, it was time to revisit one of our favoritest spots, Beaches and Cream Soda Shop!

Atmosphere

Located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Beaches and Cream Soda Shop has long been a favorite of Disney World guests, featuring lots of decorative touches that whisk guests right back to beach vacations of their childhoods.

With vintage “beach balls” scattered throughout, giant ice cream cones lighting your way, a jivin’ jukebox playing tunes you remember from the 50’s and 60’s, and a nostalgic and simple menu, you’ll feel like a kid again…and YOUR kids will love it just as much.

Seating

Seating is either in big pink booths or at small, white wrought iron tables. If you’re in a rush or just looking for a bit more fun, ask for a stool at the counter where you can watch the chefs and servers work their magic on classic burgers and massive ice cream sundaes.

Photo Tour and Review: The NEW Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar and Tutto Italia Restaurant

We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of the renovated Tutto Italia, along with the addition of the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar at the Italy pavilion in Epcot!

This week, we shared Tutto Italia menus and exterior photos when the restaurant’s new entrance and patio were unveiled!

Now, we get to bring you inside! First up — the Ribbon Cutting at the Grand Opening of Tutto Gusto and Tutto Italia!

Mickey and Minnie showed up in their Italian costumes and celebrated along with Nick Valenti, CEO of Patina Restaurant Group; Joachim Splichal, Chef and founder of Patina; and Erin Youngs, VP of Epcot.

Tutto Gusto

Next, we went into Tutto Gusto — welcoming the cool atmosphere and air conditioning!

As promised, Tutto Gusto — Italy’s new Wine Cellar — is themed like a wine cave inside. Large and small tables are set up around a long bar, and a wall of gorgeous wines punctuate the darkened room.

News! Wolfgang Puck Cafe Dinner Menu Changes

Downtown Disney’s Wolfgang Puck Cafe has unveiled some changes to its dinner menu!

For example, everyone’s favorite (and classic Puck dish), the Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken has been taken off the menu! There are a few more favorites gone as well…

It’s official, everyone! The big news this week: Starbucks is coming to Disney Parks! Whether you love it or hate it, the coffee king will be opening six locations soon — one in each domestic Disney park.

Review: Dulce de Leche Popsycake at Bongos Cuban Cafe

Sure, we had an amazing dinner during my recent (and very first! But not my last!) trip to Bongos Cuban Cafe recently.

But I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret from you from that evening!! What I haven’t told you yet? There’s deliciousness to be enjoyed at Bongos even in their gift shop!

We spied this display in the shop, right next to the cashier, and I was intrigued. They looked like they’d be pretty bad, overly-preserved Little Debbie knock-offs, but I knew we had to check them out for ya!

What is a popsycake, you ask? Well, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock like me (or your love is only for Mickey Bars and Disney cupcakes), you’ve heard of the cake pop craze.

Think of an enormous cake pop, but with a pretzel rod for a stick. Because really, if you can do away with the inedible parts of food wrapping, you SO should.

What’s Your Ideal “Disney Dining Plan”?

So, yesterday there’s a bit of a to-do about the Disney Dining Plan. Apparently there’s a typo in Disney’s official PDF describing the Standard Disney Dining Plan, indicating that an appetizer is available with all table-service meals.

Based on calls to Disney Dining (speaking to supervisors and managers), Erin heard that this is, indeed, just a typo and not a change in policy. But if it WAS true, that’d be awesome!

And this got me thinking… what if we could design our very own Disney Dining Plan based on the way we and our families eat in Disney World!?

What Would YOUR Ideal Disney Dining Plan Look Like?

So what if they introduced a “Magic Your Way Dining Plan,” where guests could build their own individualized plan off of a base plan? Let’s dream a little, shall we?

Customize your counter service : table service : snack ratio!
One thing that we keep hearing: the Standard Dining Plan is too little, the Deluxe Dining Plan is too much (and yup, we know…it TOTALLY works just fine for some folks.) So, what if you could change things up a bit?

Not a big fan of sit-down breakfast? You could add more counter service meals or snacks in to make for a light first meal o’ the day. What if your little ones have no interest in sitting still for table service? Not a problem! Which brings us to another pie in the sky option…

Different people in your party could have different dining plans!
Maybe your 3-9 year old eats like a linebacker and doesn’t order off of the children’s menu. Or maybe he or she eats like a bird, and you’d rather choose a different level for him or her. Or maybe you have a [Read more…]
