We’re back in Magic Kingdom!
And today, we’re taking you around the park for a quick update on construction, merch, and more. Let’s get started!
Disney World’s 50th anniversary is coming up, and there are lots of surprises in store!
We’ve heard all about transformations coming to the parks’ icons, special costumes for Mickey and Minnie, and even new name tags for Cast Members! But now, in a collaboration between PhotoPass and Snapchat, there’s a way for guests to get in on the fun.
UPDATE: The following day, May 21st, Rise of the Resistance was up and running as usual.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the newest rides in Disney World, but it can also be one of the toughest to get on.
To get on Rise of the Resistance, you’ll need to join a boarding group which can be difficult enough on its own. But, aside from getting a Boarding Group, technical issues and other problems can arise (just as they do with any other Disney ride) that cause Rise of the Resistance to close temporarily. And it looks like today is one of those days, as Rise of the Resistance is temporarily closed in Disney World.
We’ve got some GREAT Disney food news!
But first, we’ve gotta backtrack a couple of years. Remember the Filet Sliders up for grabs at Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Disney Springs? These lean, tender, flavorful eats were one of the best things on the Splitsville menu…but they disappeared last year. And if you’re craving ’em as much as we are, we’ve got some exciting news to share.

Earlier today, we told you about a brand-new ice cream spot coming to Disney’s BoardWalk!
BoardWalk Ice Cream is replacing Ample Hills Creamery, after that company closed its BoardWalk location and filed for bankruptcy. We’ve been following the construction on the empty space for quite some time, and now, we know exactly what’s goin’ on! And if you’re itching to try the new eats here, we ALSO know what’ll be up for grabs. 😉
Off the top of my head, I can probably name at least 5 things that you do every time you go to Disney World. These are things like taking pictures of Cinderella Castle or eating something Mickey-shaped, just to name a couple.
But, there are likely tons of things you’ve never done in Disney World!
You scream, I scream, we all scream for…ICE CREAM! There are quite a few places in Disney World where you can get some delicious, cold, and refreshing treats including Beaches & Cream Soda Shop and L’Artisan des Glaces.
Previously, ice cream fans could also head to Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk. Ample Hills Creamery closed that location in 2020 after the company filed for bankruptcy. That space at the BoardWalk has since sat closed for quite some time. But now something NEW is coming!!
The Disney Dining Plan has remained suspended since the parks reopened last summer.
While Disney has not indicated when it could return, we have seen that it is not available (for now, at least) to add to vacation packages in 2021 and 2022. However, today Disney announced a 2022 50th anniversary vacation package for U.K. residents — which includes a “Disney Dining Credit.” So…what does this mean for the Disney Dining Plan? Well, here’s what we know.
BIG news for UK residents!
Disney World’s 50th Anniversary is coming up this October and guests will get to celebrate during “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” The celebration will last a full 18 months so guests traveling in 2022 will get to enjoy the fun. If you’ve got 2022 Disney World plans, we’ve got news for you (including a DINING OFFER)!
A lot of what we do here at DFB is posting articles and videos to help you plan the most magical Disney World trip possible. Not only do we keep you updated on all the great food at the parks, but we’ve also got tips and tricks for each park, as well as tips and trips for attractions.
We even try to help you save money when we can AND let you know about the hacks that have helped us in the past! And we’ve got SCORES of videos to help you plan your trip for 2021 — so here are the ones you need to watch before your trip this year! Happy viewing!
