Believe it or not, Disney doesn’t ALWAYS get its own way!
So we’re taking a look at some of the most ICONIC things that Disney World was FORCED to stop doing, and what helped us fill the void after these had come and gone.
Quite a few things are currently closed in Magic Kingdom!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure just officially opened, but Country Bear Jamboree is still down for refurbishment. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade just closed permanently to become a new Disney Vacation Club lounge, and Tortuga Tavern is now seasonally closed in Adventureland. Seems like a long list, right? Well, now we’re adding another offering to that group.
Disney parks are changing in a major way and more updates are on the horizon.
The DisneylandForward project has officially been approved and will bring a $1.9 billion expansion to Disneyland Resort. The first permits have been filed for Disney World’s massive Animal Kingdom expansion, and Magic Kingdom’s Beyond Big Thunder overhaul will breathe new life into the original Florida park. Bob Iger has a new plan for Disney parks, and we happen to be pretty excited about it.
It takes a lot of work to keep you updated on the latest and greatest Disney news. But here at DFB, we love what we do!
We’ve been doing this for over 15 years (!!!), and not only has The Walt Disney Company changed, but so has Disney Food Blog. So, to celebrate our 15th birthday — and all our years of bringing you the most up-to-date information (AND to battle the LACK of an EPCOT festival this summer) we’re throwing our own FESTIVAL!
DFB Mega Fest is two weeks full of giveaways, fun content across all of our social media platforms and blogs, YouTube scavenger hunts, and MORE! Head over to the Mega Fest Hub to see what’s planned!
To get the ball rolling — today we’re letting you in on some behind-the-scenes secrets here at DFB!
Yee-haw!!! The Country Bears are BACK, baby! Well, almost…
In case you missed it, the Country Bear Jamboree show in Magic Kingdom closed in early 2024 while Disney made some updates to the show. Don’t worry, the same bears you know and love will still be there, but they’ll have a refreshed look and sing some of your favorite Disney songs! Disney is about to begin previews before the attraction officially reopens on July 17th, but before that, we’ve got a sneak peek at the bears. Let’s take a look!
We don’t know about you, but the thought of going to Disney World without any caffeine is totally unimaginable. Can you imagine trying to survive a busy day in EPCOT without any coffee? We would NEVER! But what happens when the line at Starbucks is scary long? Are we doomed to a day without caffeine? NO! Joffrey’s Coffee to the rescue!
Joffrey’s Coffee kiosks are sprinkled all around the Disney World parks and hotels. In fact, we recently visited a Joffrey’s spot over in EPCOT, and we tried something NEW! Looking for a sweet new drink to try in Disney Word? We might have something for ya.
The 4th of July has officially come and gone, as have the 4th of July snacks.
While we’re getting ready for the start of Halloween season, we’ve found what might now be our new favorite mac and cheese snack. We also celebrated the return of hushpuppies to Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom (and we’re hoping Sleepy Hollow waffles will also return soon). We also checked out some new menu items at Morimoto Street Food in Disney Springs. As always, we’ve been keeping an eye on Disney World restaurant menus, and we’ve got some changes to share with you.
We’re just a little obsessed with Disney food (yes, we know, SHOCKER, right? 😉).
We spend a lot of time visiting restaurants in Disney World, trying out new snacks, and checking out all the fun food festivals and events. Right now, a fun festival is happening in Disney Springs, called Flavors of Florida, and it focuses on all the great food the state of Florida has to offer imagined by Disney Springs chefs. We’ve already told you about some of the food you’ll be able to get at this year’s Flavors of Florida event, but there’s also a cool culinary series where you can watch these chefs live in action!
Classic rock indeed.
An old favorite — Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith — returned to Disney World this week, and upended the wait times at Hollywood Studios, overtaking the second spot. It ended up being very close to being the most in-demand ride in the park. In addition, the Magic Kingdom had its final full normal week before losing one of its most in-demand attractions for over a month.
Things change so much at Disney World that it’s hard to keep up with everything.
In Magic Kingdom, we just recently saw the opening of a brand new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. We’re also gearing up to see what Disney has planned for the big Magic Kingdom expansion. Sometimes, though, things close in Disney World, and we’ve got a big update about some entertainment at Magic Kingdom that will be temporarily suspended.
