There are a lot of firsts with Disney World that we’ve celebrated over the years. As you know, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been under construction for a while now, but December 17th, 2024 is the day! It’s the day that the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will open, and we can’t wait to be there with you to check it all out!
Okay, so you know us, and we have a lot of favorite dining spots ALL over Disney World.

But if you asked us about our favorite park for food, we very well might tell you that if we could choose a park JUST based on its food, we’d choose Animal Kingdom every time. The food there just SLAPS. However, we have a favorite quick-service spot there, too, and yes, you know where we’re going with this if you’ve been with us for a while. Two words: Cheeseburger Pods. Yep, we love Satu’li Canteen, and well, now a former Disney Imagineer who had a lot to do with helping create Animal Kingdom has commented on that restaurant!

I’m back again with another round of WHAT’S NEW UPDATES AT DISNEY WORLD, a rundown on all the epic news and updates that happened at Disney World this past week. This week, we got the 4-1-1 on a Disney World hotel pool reopening, a Hollywood Studios attraction now being permanently closed, and a popular restaurant finally being open 7 days a week!
An attraction that was part of the 1998 opening day for Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will be closing soon.

There are so many dining options in Disney World that you may be confused as to why someone would choose to go to the McDonald’s on property.

But for our reporters, and many of the Disney World staff who are there every single day, sometimes you’re just in the mood for some basic fast food. Or, maybe you’ve got a picky kiddo and you don’t want to fight them on what they’ll eat (or if you’re picky yourself!), or are arriving at the resort late and want to grab something with a drive-through. Whatever your reasoning, we get it. However, there is one thing about this McDonald’s we need to warn you about — you might not be expecting it!
We don’t know about you, but we are excited about all the new things coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
First, there’s going to be a villains-themed show, which is set to premiere in 2025. FINALLY, the villains are getting their time to shine in Disney World. However, what’s even more exciting is that Disney plans on building a Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios, and that land will have a new suspended coaster ride based on the doors scene in the movie! We’ve only wanted that ride FOREVER. However, the more we think about it, the more we’re worried about that ride. We’ll tell you why.

Most of this week we’ve been worried about Hurricane Milton, and Disney World even closed briefly as a result. Needless to say, not a lot has happened with Disney World restaurants this week, but we did notice a few minor menu changes. We’re still waiting for that big round of food price increases we usually get this time of year, but for now, let’s just focus on the few updates we have.
We might be Disney World pros, but we still occasionally make mistakes in Disney World.
Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom
Maybe we forgot to pack our rain gear, even though we know how finicky Florida weather can be. Maybe we forgot to try to get a virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and then all spots are gone and we’ll have to pay for Lightning Lane Single Pass if we want to ride it. We also do a lot of people-watching in Disney World and see how there are some things in Disney World that are so confusing that often throw people off. Well, we’ve got one particular thing in Magic Kingdom to point out that you’ll want to be aware of.Â
A LOT is happening in Disney World right now, and we’re SO excited.

Animal Kingdom is getting a new Tropical Americans-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza, which will replace Dinoland, U.S.A. Magic Kingdom is getting a Cars expansion in Frontierland AND a new Villains-themed land. Hollywood Studios is getting a new land devoted to Monsters, Inc. Disney World hotels are also getting new restaurants and updates. Now, we’ve just spotted a sign that something will soon be happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
