PLEASE NOTE: Disney suspended the use of FastPass+ when the Walt Disney World theme parks reopened in July 2020 after the Resort’s temporary closure in response to the global health crisis. In August 2021, Disney announced that FastPass+ would NOT be returning to Disney World.
Two optional paid services have replaced Fastpass+, permitting guests to bypass the standby lines and instead enter a “Lightning Lane.” These options — Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection — made their debut when the complimentary Disney Genie service became available in the My Disney Experience app in the October 2021.Â

Ready to learn everything there is to know about FastPass+ in Walt Disney World?
FastPass+ is a free service included with your Disney World theme park admission which allows guests to reserve a specific window of time to ride an attraction without having to wait in the full line. Guests book a FastPass+ for a certain window of time and head to the ride sometime during that window. A designated FastPass+ line allows these guests to bypass the regular standby line, and have a very short wait before boarding the attraction.
When FastPass debuted in Walt Disney World in 1999, it revolved around a paper pass system for same-day attraction access. However, FastPass+ (commonly referred to, still, as “FastPass,” which we’ll use interchangeably going forward) made its debut in 2014, giving guests with valid theme park admission the ability to reserve their selections in advance via an electronic system, and this is the process which is currently still utilized.
Let’s take a look at all the ins-and-outs!
FastPass+: What and When
What is FastPass+?
Fastpass+ is a free service which allows guests to reserve access to up to three select attractions per day in one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks.
When can I reserve my FastPasses?
Guests with valid theme park admission may reserve FastPasses 30 days prior to their park arrival starting at 7:00 AM EST. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel with valid theme park admission may reserve FastPasses as early as 60 days prior to check-in for the full length of your stay.
FastPass+: How
What do I need to reserve FastPasses in advance?
In order to reserve FastPasses ahead of your park arrival, the following are required:
- Valid park admission (either through theme park tickets, an Annual Pass, or as part of a Walt Disney World vacation package)
- You must register for a Disney account (which you can create at Disneyworld.com) and link your admission or vacation package.
- You may add your Family & Friends for whom you also wish to reserve FastPasses, if applicable.
Great! I’m all set… Sooo, HOW do I make my FastPasses in advance?
Once you have your Disney account set up, you can either install the My Disney Experience app on your smartphone OR sign into your account on Disneyworld.com. (Please note that our screenshots below are from the My Disney Experience app.)
- Select “Get FastPass+”
- Select “View FastPass+ Options”
- Choose the Friends or Family for whom you would like to reserve the same FastPasses, if applicable.
- Select your Date.
- Select your Park.
- See all available attractions and times to select your Fastpasses! (Note that for attractions and meet and greets, Fastpass+ arrival windows are one hour.)
- Upon selection, you can Confirm your choice before having the opportunity to make more FastPasses. (As a reminder, you can select up to 3 FastPasses in one park for each day.)
What if I do not purchase my park tickets in advance?Â
Note that guests who purchase same-day park tickets can still make FastPass+ selections on the day of their visit.
Though selections for popular attractions may be more limited than with advance reservations, you can visit a FastPass+ kiosk in the park (refer to your park map or ask Guests Services for the locations) and make your selections there, with the assistance of a Cast Member, if needed.

IT’S TIME! Using FastPass+ Inside the Park
NOW here’s the fun part! Once you’re inside the park, simply…
- Arrive at your selected attraction within the time window you’ve selected. (Attractions and character greets will offer you a ONE HOUR window in your selected time; shows will give you an arrival time prior to the production’s start time within the window).
- Tap your MagicBand or hard copy ticket at the FastPass+ touchpoint.
- Enter the designated Fastpass+ line, and proceed to your attraction.
- HAVE FUN!
And remember… once you have used your initial three FastPasses, you may use the processes noted above to make MORE FastPasses, even at a different park!
FastPass+ FAQs
Yep, there’s still more to know about FastPass+ in Walt Disney World! Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about the service.
How much does FastPass+ cost?
FastPass+ is a free service. As long as you have a park ticket, you have access to FastPass+!
Can I make changes to my FastPass+ selections?
YES! You can modify (or cancel) your FastPass selections up to the start of your arrival window. Just select the current FastPass you wish to change in your Disney account. On the next screen, you’ll find the option to “Change” on the screen.
From here, it’s like making a new FastPass+ (and you won’t lose your current FastPass selection until you confirm your new selection). You can change your time or your chosen attraction.
Why can’t I make a FastPass+ for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
Due to the unprecedented popularity of Rise of the Resistance, this attraction has its own unique virtual queue system, which you can read about here.
Do I need to make FastPasses for my child under 3 years old?
Nope. For any children in your traveling party under 3, FastPasses are not required in order for them to ride the attraction with you. Simply arrive with your child at the FastPass+ queue during your arrival window, and they will be able to join you on the attraction as long as they meet the ride’s height requirement.
Help! I can’t get a FastPass for my top choice attraction!
Not to worry… every attraction that offers FastPass+ also has a standby line, so — even though you may have to wait longer — you can still enjoy the attraction. And remember, you can also modify your FastPass selections, so keep checking closer to your visit! It’s surprising how many in-demand FastPasses become available as the time draws nearer.
