We learned a little while ago that character meet and greets were returning to Disney World in a modified way.
Since Disney World reopened, you could only see your favorite characters from a distance — though you could still wave “hello” and take pictures. Even at character meals, they usually just walk through the room or greet guests from a distance. Now, there are new character meet and greets (called character “sightings”) in the parks. Disney Merriest Nites is the new holiday after-party coming to Disneyland in 2021.

It’s actually six parties in one, with different areas around park celebrating the holidays in different ways, including a New Orleans Holiday, a Tropical Party, a Feliz Navidad Party, and more. Holiday overlays are one of our favorite parts of the season in Disney World! And, we couldn’t be more excited that the parks will be bringing them back to multiple attractions during the day and for Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours this year!
In the past, we’ve seen holiday overlays at Tomorrowland Speedway, Jungle Cruise (AKA Jingle Cruise), Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, and beyond. While we’ve already seen holiday decorations sweep across the parks, it looks like one of our first attraction overlays is in progress too!
