There’s been a LOT of talk about Universal’s upcoming theme park, premiere Halloween event, and ongoing construction. While Universal had already confirmed several details about a few of the newest hotels to open just outside the gates of its newest theme park, we still had outstanding questions about it’s largest remaining hotel that will feature a first-of-its-kind in-park entrance for Universal Orlando.
We’ve got some FUN Disney World hotel news to share today! Have you heard? Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been under construction for quite some time, and this hotel is getting a BIG addition. Later this year, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will open, and Disney just gave us a sneak peek of what’s coming to this resort!

This new section of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is set to open on December 17th, 2024! It will be a Disney Vacation Club property, but anyone is invited to book a reservation here! The 10-story tower will feature rooms of different sizes for parties of all shapes and sizes. Just like The Polynesian Village Resort itself, this new tower will take inspiration from the Polynesian Islands. You may even spot some new artwork inspired by Moana!

Later this year, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will open, and while Disney has shared updates here and there, we’ve been keeping an eye out for more news about this new spot. We’ve seen a sneak peek at the rooms and had a few details about a new dining location, but now we officially know more!

Disney revealed a TON about new lands, new rides, new restaurants, parades, stage shows, and SO much more. But, that doesn’t mean there weren’t still announcements missing from the big event — especially when it comes to Disney World hotels. And, unfortunately, we’re pretty sure that Disney isn’t going to fix this hotel problem anytime soon.
Disney fans were stunned back in 2022 when the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, stepped down, only to be replaced by Bob Iger, who held the position before Chapek. Ever since Iger’s return, there’s been speculation about who will replace Iger when he (re)retires in 2026.

Over the past few years, Iger has faced several challenges, navigating the complex world of streaming, turning things around for the parks, and battling with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Iger has made it clear that he plans to step down soon, leaving fans to wonder: who’s next?

This year’s festival runs from August 29th to November 23rd, 2024. We know that some of the most popular food booths will return, along with the Eat to the Beat Concerts each evening. But the announcement we have been most eagerly anticipating? Well, it didn’t happen. Hey, Disney? We’re here to gently poke you. Pssst.
