In the modern era of Walt Disney World vacations, there are few things more important than having a charged smartphone. Not only are the devices essential to staying in contact with your party and taking photos to your heart’s content, they’re also integral to a Disney vacation as – – for better or worse – – Disney has made apps an indispensable part of a trip to Walt Disney World.Â

You may already be planning what type of room you’d like or where you’d like to stay on board. If you’re not though and you don’t care where you’re put, that’s great! Except for the fact that there are some very specific scenarios where you should be paying very close attention to where you’re booking — if these scenarios apply to you, here’s where NOT to book on the Disney Treasure.
Disney Genie+ is changing in some very big ways on July 24th, 2024.
Lightning Lane at Expedition Everest
Genie+ is a paid service that reduces your wait times for attractions at Disney World and at Disneyland Resort. You buy Genie+ in the My Disney Experience App, and it allows you to book windows to ride your favorite ride using the Lightning Lane — which has shorter waits than the typical standby lines. In addition, you can buy Individual Lightning Lanes for certain rides — where you pay to book a specific window to ride that one ride (there’s a list of those “individual” rides right here). Today, we’ve learned of a BIG CHANGE coming to Disney Genie+!
Just when we thought we had gotten the hang of this whole Genie+ thing, Disney goes and switches things up on us!

We knew that the service was due for an update based on what Disney has said in the past, we just didn’t know when. Disney shared that we’d soon have a way to plan Lightning Lanes ahead of time — before even stepping foot in the parks — and now we have an update on those changes!
Getting Oogie Boogie Bash tickets was an adventure.Â

Disneyland Resort’s Oogie Boogie Bash — the resort’s premier Halloween event — begins on August 25th this year and transforms Disneyland into a spooky party. Tickets went on sale for some Magic Key holders today (June 25th), but getting them was not a smooth process! Several dates SOLD OUT incredibly quickly.
This may be the MERRIEST news we have all year!
