So far, Inside Out 2 has been celebrated with a new character meet and greet, specially-themed treats, an addition to a popular nighttime show, and more. But, it isn’t just Disney who is celebrating the release of the new movie — it seems to be a pretty big hit with therapists, too!

Animatronics have been integral part of Disney theme parks since Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln first debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. From classics like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion to modern marvels like Rise of the Resistance and the Shaman of Song on Na’vi River Adventure, animatronics are arguably the most iconic technology Imagineering has at their disposal. However, not EVERY Disney animatronic is created equal. In fact, there are some at Walt Disney World that creep us out.
A “new” park requires a new map.

Maps have LONG been an integral part of the Disney theme park experience. Some of the initial concept art for the original “Mickey Mouse Park” that would eventually turn into Disneyland was done in a map format. A decade later, when Walt and Roy Disney were trying to secure investors, Walt had Imagineer and artist Herb Ryman design several pieces of concept art — including a map — to pitch the project. From the moment Disneyland opened two years later, physical maps were both a cherished souvenir and an important part of a guest’s day. That still holds true today as we’re sure you often consult physical and app-based maps when maneuvering around Disney’s theme parks, which is why an updated map is always a big deal.

It’s certainly no secret that EPCOT has experienced a MASSIVE transformation over the last few years.
NEW EPCOT Map
Projects like the Mary Poppins ride and the Play Pavilion eventually fell off the map and Disney never spoke of them again. But, others like Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana, the World Celebration Gardens, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, are still garnering plenty of attention. And, soon enough, another ride will have a refreshed look!
Just a few days ago, Disney World finally unveiled CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza, the last pieces of the EPCOT expansion.

This is part of what has been behind those construction walls for YEARS, and everyone was super excited to see it, basing the design off the concept art Disney had released previously. Again, we all knew these were concept art drawings and that things could change…but let’s just say a lot of people are VERY disappointed with what Disney actually created.

Things in Disney World are always changing, which is basically, what Walt himself always wanted — theme parks that continue to change and evolve over time.

That doesn’t mean we have to be happy with some of the changes (or in some cases, changes that are never made). Now, don’t get us wrong — we are EXCITED about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom, as well as the upcoming Magic Kingdom expansion. But some people are also a little sad about Dinoland, U.S.A. getting re-themed and never seeing Dr. Seeker again. There are also plenty of rides we STILL miss, although we also might argue some existing rides need some updating, too.
