Big changes are coming for the “wildest ride in the wilderness”!
Since it opened in 1980, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been one of the most popular rides at Disney World. Despite many attractions and even full theme parks that have opened since this Magic Kingdom staple has remained one of the resort’s busiest rides consistently over the last 40+ years. However, things are about to change.
If you’ve been dazzled by the dancing display of lights twinkling around the Boardwalk lately, or dreaming of when you’ll finally be able to taste one of those fluffy cake slices from Disney World’s upcoming restaurant, we just got one step closer!

Heck, there are ALREADY loads of festive souvenirs making their way into the parks in mid-October. No matter where you stand on this debate, some pretty big changes are coming to Disney World in November, so let’s get into it!

For example, if you’re flying in that morning and won’t be in the parks until 1PM, you’re flying/driving out that afternoon and won’t be in the parks past 1PM, or you just prefer to arrive at the park halfway through the day and stay as late as you can. Right now, there’s no way to purchase a half-day ticket, so you’ll need to pay for a whole day even if you’re not using it (unless you’d like to head to a water park or Disney Springs instead). But did you know there USED to be a half-day ticket option that we, along with many Disney fans, deeply miss?
