But perhaps, no one’s more eager for the parks to resume their operations than the Walt Disney Company itself because they’re continuing to lose millions of dollars every day they remain empty.Â

Though Walt Disney World and Disney parks around the globe remain closed until further notice in light of the current global situation, meetings continue this week for the Re-Open Florida Task Force. The task force — which Governor Ron DeSantis appointed as the state looks to reopen its economy in light of new federal guidelines which were revealed last week — includes Josh D’Amaro, Walt Disney World President, among its Executive Committee members.

The task force is examining several aspects of business in the state divided into various Industry Working Groups discussing everything from education and business administration to agriculture and beyond. And a subcommittee focused on Florida’s tourism industry includes the state’s theme parks, restaurants, hotels, cruise ship ports, and more. [Read more…]
Yesterday, the Re-Open Florida Task Force, met to discuss some of the concerns and potential solutions for moving the state out of shutdown.
The Disney Wonder
Another meeting occurred today to discuss more specific sectors. With real estate, construction, cruise lines, and airports on the list of items, the team worked to envision what reopening may look like for these industries. Cruises are a notably at-risk model during the global health crisis, so members of the task force stepped forward to expand on their priorities for cruise lines.
While the entire state of Florida will remain under a stay-at-home order until April 30th, Governor Ron DeSantis has assembled a task force to consult in the reopening of businesses that have been closed for the last several weeks.

The group, which includes the state elected leaders, mayors, and officials from many industries, including Disney World and Universal, has already examined ways to safely reopen restaurants and discussed ways to potentially reopen Disney World in stages.
Shanghai Disney Resort in China was the first Disney property to be affected by the global health crisis. The resort was closed in late January.

Being the first property affected also means that Shanghai is the furthest along in the course of the crisis and could have a chance to open a little sooner than the rest of the world. Recently, Shanghai Disney Resort started a phased reopening with its resorts and some retail. Now, it looks like the parks are doing some simulations to test out their new health and safety measures.Â
