One of our favorite fall food and wine events is the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic.

The event takes place one weekend during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. This year, you can enjoy this incredible dine around on Friday, October 27, and Saturday, October 28!

The hallmark of the Food and Wine Classic is the Causeway Event. The grand tasting includes food and wine booths set up along the resort’s picturesque promenade. Guests can visit tents from the resort’s 17 restaurants. In addition, beverage booths serve a dizzying array of beer and wine from around the world! (See the full list of menus here.)

But the event’s true hidden gems are the Seminars that take place every year. Choose from classes that cover beer and wine, spirits, and pairing experiences — even Pasta making! There are ten basic seminars, plus a grand tasting experience to choose from.

Review: Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party in Magic Kingdom

Who doesn’t love capping off a night at Disney World with a Fireworks spectacular? I know I do, whether I’m standing shoulder-to-shoulder with literally thousands of other guests in the Hub of Magic Kingdom or taking it all in from the balcony at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

But there is one thing that can make a nighttime show even better…

And that’s DESSERT. Better yet, make that plural: DESSERTS.

That’s where Fireworks Viewing Parties come in! At present Disney is offering the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios, and the Frozen Ever After Dessert Party at Epcot, which pairs desserts and a ride on the Frozen Ever After attraction with a showing of IllumiNations.

FYI: The Nutella Waffle Sandwich at Magic Kingdom Is Still Stupid Good.

And if we’re talkin’ waffles, more often than not we’re also talkin’ about Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.

You see, long before Chicken and Waffles starting popping up pretty much everywhere in Disney World from Backlot Express to the Fantasy Fare Food Truck (even the Polynesian’s Captain Cook’s had an unexpected take on them for a time), Sleepy Hollow understood the Power of the Waffle. While specific waffle items have come and gone from the menu, this location is currently home to its original Big Three: the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich, a Breakfast Waffle (currently served with egg and cheese), and the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich with Chocolate-Hazlenut Spread… which we all simply refer to as the “Nutella Waffle Sandwich. Oh, yeah, and it’s got Fruit, too.”

Or maybe that’s just me?

Anyway, we’re revisiting the Nutella Waffle Sandwich today because… well, frankly because I wanted one on my last trip! And I thought I’d share it again today with you. After all, even though the Nutella Waffle never left the Sleepy Hollow menu, that doesn’t mean things here can’t change (Case in Point: the return of the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich after it was taken off the menu for a while — though good news: the price on the item has actually gone down, making it a better value). News: BaseLine Tap House and Grand Avenue Opening This Fall in Hollywood Studios

What? ANOTHER new Hollywood Studios main drag? Welcome GRAND AVENUE!!

We have LOTS to look forward to at Hollywood Studios, with Toy Story Land opening in 2018 and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (that’s the official name for Star Wars Land!) in 2019. But let’s face it… we’ve got some time to wait for those big, new adventures at the moment.

So it may be good to know that we have something new to look forward to much closer on the horizon: this fall, the new Grand Avenue area — celebrating “the spirit of present-day Downtown Los Angeles” — is coming to Hollywood Studios!

The area (essentially what remains of the former Streets of America) will showcase vintage office buildings and warehouses in representation of different parts of LA. And the new BaseLine Tap House will be a big part of the scene! [Read more…]

News! Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booths Going UP!

It’s COMING SOON…

I’m talking about the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Kicking off on August 31st, the longer-than-ever Festival will run all the way through November 13th!

There will be 35 Festival Marketplace Booths in celebration of Epcot’s 35th Anniversary (in fact, you can check out the full list of menus here!).

So I guess with more Booths AND more days than ever, the Food and Wine Festival crew needed some extra time to prepare. Because we are ALREADY seeing the Festival Marketplace Booths popping up all over World Showcase!

So you see, I’m not the only one telling you it’s COMING SOON…

That’s actually the only current designation on the signage posted on top of the standing booths. But after years and years of attending the Food and Wine Festival, I’ve gotten to know these buildings pretty darn well! So, it’s now no trouble spotting the Ireland Marketplace Booth. (SUPER excited about the Warm Irish Cheddar Cheese and Stout Dip with Irish Brown Bread here! It’s SOOOO GOOD.)

Must-Eat Snacks at The Mara in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (Now Including JUNGLE JUICE SLUSH!)

We’re taking on a few Must-Eat Snacks at The Mara in Animal Kingdom Lodge! This counter service restaurant serves up several classic dishes as you might expect (like Chicken Breast Nuggets and Burgers). But in keeping with the wonderfully immersive theming of the Lodge, you’ll also find unique African-inspired dishes like the tasty African Potjie Stew and Soups of the Day (I love it when the Coconut Curry Chicken Soup comes up on the rotation!).

Even in addition to some of those items, though, there are still a few nearly-unique-to-Mara finds (you’ll see what I mean by that soon) that aren’t necessarily African-inspired, but equally as tasty. And those land on our Mara Must-Eat Snacks list! Plus, they are all available for a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan!

So let’s start with with a VERY special item that just made its Mara debut!

Frozen Jungle Juice

Oh, joy!! We feared we’d lost the Jungle Juice Slushy for good when it disappeared from the menu at Animal Kingdom’s Mahindi, but a few weeks ago it made a surprise return. Better yet, it’s now available in TWO spots, since it’s at The Mara now, too!

Even though it’s called the Jungle Juice Frozen Beverage, it’s still that same awesome mix of Passion Fruit, Orange, and Guava juices that is also known as POG Juice or Liliko’i Juice for breakfast in the Polynesian’s ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe.

Roaring Fork has been a longtime favorite for guests staying at Wilderness Lodge — or even folks who stay elsewhere and trek over to take advantage of the counter service spot’s specialties.

Review: Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs

Time to head to Disney Springs! We’ve enjoyed some quality meals in Walt Disney World recently. And tonight, we’re spending the evening at one of the resort’s more high profile spots — Morimoto Asia.

The Pan Asian restaurant numbered among the first new restaurants that opened as Downtown Disney became Disney Springs. We tried it on the very first day it opened and found some dishes that were truly noteworthy. But dining here is not for the budget seeker. It can get pricey, fast.

But it’s also worth noting that Morimoto Asia continues to surprise us with expanded and special offerings. Since it opened, they’ve introduced a Late Night Menu of special drinks and small plates. And the Dim Sum Brunch is one of Morimoto Asia’s greatest values, and something pretty unique in Walt Disney World.

Guests who aren’t looking for a sit-down dining experience can also indulge in some of the restaurant’s specialties at the counter service spot, Morimoto Asia Street Food. But if you are set on experiencing table service, keep in mind that MA is once again participating in Orlando Magical Dining Month, during which you can get three courses for $35! (See the full list of participating Disney Restaurants here.)

The restaurant’s alluring atmosphere and huge menu of tempting dishes was hard to resist for long. And since we believe in visiting a spot again and again to ensure we can still recommend it, I felt that it was time to take in another full-on Morimoto Asia meal. Join me to see how the restaurant is faring two years in.

Atmosphere

Morimoto is located in The Landing at Disney Springs. If you’re trying to get your bearings, head past Sprinkles from the Lime Garage and you’ll find it across from Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant.
