It’s hard to believe that the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is right around the corner!
This year, it stretches to a full two months! The fun begins September 14 and runs 62 days — ending November 14!
While there’s so much to eat, drink, and explore, it’s always fun to take in a few of the Special Events happening throughout the festival.
Events are varied, and include premium parties like Party for the Senses as well as special lunches and dinners that emphasize food and beverage pairings.
In the past we’ve really enjoyed these experiences, ranging from Beverage Pairings in Japan to Beer and Food Pairing in Italy — and even a Tequila Pairing in Mexico!

Bonjour from Chefs de France!
Chefs de France is located, of course, in none other than Epcot’s France Pavilion. If you’ve been reading the DFB for any length of time you already know that France is a must-visit Pavilion when it comes to dining options in the World Showcase, what with Counter Service and snack showstoppers like Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie and L’Artisan des Glaces, as well as signature drinks like the Grand Marnier Orange Slush.
But the longtime favorite we’re visiting today is one of the Pavilion’s two Table Service restaurants (the other being Monsieur Paul, the signature dining option). And “longtime” is definitely the operative word, as Chefs de France has been welcoming guests since the park’s opening.
But that doesn’t mean things have stayed exactly the same over the years. In fact, our recent visit was due to some changes at Chefs de France that we wanted to check out for ourselves.

It was an another exciting week at Disney and we were able to check out more new dining spots including STK Orlando and Tiffins!
We have a lot to share with you this week, so let’s jump right in…
Right on the heels of the announcement that the Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen has started to accept Advance Dining Reservations comes another “ADR” switcheroo!
According to wdwmagic.com, The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom will begin to expand its availability to walk-up guests (those without Advance Dining Reservations) beginning July 17th.
Of course, in order to do so, The Plaza will not be accepting Advance Dining Reservations for a majority of the day. Wdwmagic reports that Advance Dining Reservations will only be available for booking from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon daily. Guests interested in dining later in the day can visit the podium located just outside the restaurant.
And indeed, a search for Advance Dining Reservations for the week of July 17th on the Walt Disney World website resulted in options available only in the 11:00 am hour for lunch. Here’s an example:

And though you are still able to search for “Dinner” options past July 17th, nothing comes up in testing several dates. [Read more…]

Scott Hunnel, chef de cuisine at Victoria and Albert’s, has been promoted to Executive Chef at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

The move means that Chef Hunnel will oversee all of The Grand’s restaurants, which include Citricos, Narcoossee’s, and the Grand Floridian Cafe. [Read more…]
