NEWS: Over 500 Flights DELAYED at Orlando Airport Due to Severe Weather Conditions

Although most of the record-breaking spring break crowds have come and gone through the Orlando Airport, that doesn’t mean travelers are safe from unexpected flight cancelations and delays. In fact, we’re seeing more delays now, April 3rd, than we did during the busy month of March.

“It’s a Win-Win” — Disney CEO Bob Iger Comments on Recent Settlement With DeSantis

At the end of March 2024, a major part of the ongoing battle between Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came to an end.

Although we are still waiting for a ruling on an appeal that Disney filed at the federal level, the state-level case reached a settlement. As a refresher, this state court case (2023-CA-011818-O: CENTRAL FLORIDA TOURISM OVERSIGHT DISTRICT vs. WALT DISNEY PARKS AND RESORTS US INC) was brought by the district against Disney. It claimed that certain agreements Disney entered into with the old board were null and void. Disney later filed a countersuit against the CFTOD board, claiming that they willfully failed to search for and produce documents pertinent to the case. A settlement was reached in March that includes the dismissal of the documents case as well. Now, we’re hearing from Disney on the matter once again, but this time at the annual shareholders meeting.

4 Important Announcements Were MISSING from Disney’s BIG News Drop

April 3rd, 2024, was a BIG day for the Walt Disney Company. The Annual Shareholder Meeting took place, where shareholders voted to elect Disney’s full slate of 12 board directors (against the Trian Group’s and Blackwell’s recommendations). But the election was only one part of this major meeting — we also got some pretty big updates from Disney executives like CEO Bob Iger!

We heard more about the new Moana 2 movie that’s coming out in November, got a sneak peek at the concept art for a possible Pandora land coming to Disneyland, and even learned that ESPN has secured NCAA football playoff rights through the 2031-2042 season (talk about planning ahead). FIRST LOOK at a Possible ‘Avatar’ EXPANSION in Disneyland

Plans are in the works for expansions at the Disneyland Resort, and that could potentially include a new Avatar-themed land!

During the initial reveal, Iger shared, “We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida. We’re going to put a second one in California.” A land similar to what was created in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in Disney World could make its way to California — and we’ve officially got our first idea of what it could look like!

RESULTS ANNOUNCED: Shareholders Have VOTED, and Disney’s Proxy Battle Is OVER

Disney has been involved in a heated proxy battle with activist investor Nelson Peltz, who was petitioning to get multiple seats on the Company’s Board of Directors.

Trian Partners nominated Peltz and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo to be elected to the Board, but Disney has made it clear they don’t endorse either candidate. It all came to a head during a vote at Disney’s 2024 Annual Shareholders Meeting, and now, we finally know who has come out as the victor in this long, drawn-out battle.
