News: Breakfast with Santa Coming to T-Rex Cafe in Disney Springs

Santa Claus and the Mrs. will once again be joining guests for breakfast at T-Rex Cafe this December!

On select mornings throughout the month, you can let the Big Guy know what’s on your holiday wish list (and snap some photos with him and Mrs. Claus!) when you dine at T-Rex Cafe in Disney Springs at a special breakfast buffet known as Breakfast with Santa!

Typically, T-Rex serves Lunch and Dinner, served a la carte. However, on December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, and 17, 2017, a unique buffet will feature items like mini pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, omelets, waffles, Applewood smoked bacon, turkey sausages, biscuits with country gravy, fresh fruit with yogurt, assorted cereals, artisanal breads, Danish pastries, muffins and more.

The price is $32 for adults, and $20.50 for children ages 3-9 (children under age 3 dine for free), excluding tax and gratuity. Seatings start at 8:00, 8:15, and 8:30 AM. Interested guests can make reservations through Disney by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. [Read more…]

Special Menus for ¡Viva Navidad! at Disney California Adventure

While you’re checking out ALL THE FOOD around the Festive Foods Marketplace for Disneyland’s Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure, you might also want to be on the lookout for additional offerings around Paradise Pier!

In celebration of ¡Viva Navidad! throughout the Festival, look for outdoor vending stops offering items such as Elote (street-style corn with mayonnaise, parmesan cheese and tajin — AAAAH SO GOOOOD), Horchata (a sweet rice beverage with vanilla and cinnamon), Jamaica (traditional sweetened hibiscus tea), Chicharrón (a puffed wheat wagon wheel served with tapatio and lime wedges), and Strawberry Paleta.

Additionally, Paradise Garden Grill is serving a special seasonal menu until the Festival ends on January 7, 2018. Selections include a Trio of Street Tacos with carnitas, carne asada, and chicken, House-made Pozole, a Torta al Pastor served on a soft telera roll, and beverages including Sangria. Well, that’s not actually the full story… Ale & Compass Lounge has been around for ages. But HUGE changes in dining options at Disney’s Yacht Club have brought such a major refurbishment to the lounge that it really is — for all intents and purposes — a whole new place!

Previously, Ale & Compass Lounge was just a teeny little spot to grab a drink or enjoy a coffee or continental breakfast in the morning without much in the way of seating. Like the Resort itself, Ale & Compass presented a nautical theme which was certainly pleasant.

But now, the Ale & Compass Lounge has re-opened as part of the re-imagined Ale & Compass dining concept for the Resort, which also includes The Market at Ale & Compass and the brand new Ale & Compass Restaurant.

News: Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel Gingerbread House

Hey, Disneylanders! If you’re in the mood for some aromatic holiday cheer, make your way to the Grand Californian, where the hotel’s Holiday Gingerbread House is again completed!

The pastry chefs (and in this case, they can also be considered construction workers and engineers, I’d say!) have been hard at work in the lobby, constructing a beautiful Craftsman-inspired replica of the hotel itself once again for 2017, with perfect shaping and details! [Read more…]

The 2017 Gingerbread Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

I love all of the larger-than-life Gingerbread Displays around Disney World during the Holiday Season. You know this. But I must confess… I’ve got a favorite. It’s just not the Holidays until I see (and sniff!) the Gingerbread Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort!

That’s why it’s especially good news that it is now up and spinning for guests visiting the Beach Club!

One of the reasons I love the Gingerbread Carousel so much is that it’s new every year. The theme last year, for instance, was the Fab Five, with horses for Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The Ale & Compass Restaurant has taken the spot of Captain’s Grille as the casual Table Service Restaurant option in the Yacht Club. (The Resort’s other Table Service restaurant, Yachtsman Steakhouse, is a Signature Restaurant.) It comes to us as part of the new Ale & Compass dining concept for the Resort, which also includes the newly reopen and majorly refurbished Ale & Compass Lounge as well as The Market at Ale & Compass which opened earlier this year.

The Captain’s Grille was — in my opinion — something of a hidden gem. It offered a cheerful, comfy nautical feel and some decent options for surf-and-turf style eating for lunch and dinner, and a terrific breakfast which featured not only a buffet, but also a better-than-average a la carte menu.

The Ale & Compass Restaurant, though, has been completely re-imagined with its own unique feel.

If you ever paid a visit to Captain’s Grille, you’ll remember a somewhat busier appearance to the entrance, since the check-in took place just outside the restaurant.
