I already know what you’re gonna say. “AJ, you JUST went to Artist Point.”
And you’d be right. We reviewed this signature spot not long ago. And even Disney signature dining spots that I frequent, like Le Cellier or Flying Fish Cafe, usually don’t get that much coverage here on the blog.
But here’s the thing: that last visit was NOT awesome. From food to service, we left having felt completely underwhelmed. And I received several comments from readers requesting a “re-review” when a brand new chef took the helm.
So on a recent trip, I knew I had to check in. Even if everything hadn’t instantly transformed bippety-boppety-style, I was hoping to see some movement in the right direction.

The decor of Artist Point, like the rest of the Wilderness Lodge, pays tribute to the Arts and Crafts style as well as the sweeping vistas of the Pacific Northwest.

But it differs from the rest of the resort in that it’s a touch less rustic, a bit more refined. Whereas the rest of Wilderness Lodge plays up warm wood hues with exposed beams and woodwork to drive home that cabin feel, Artist Point is dressed up with a creamy palette and beautiful artwork celebrating the region. It’s officially the holiday season at the Walt Disney World Resort! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is happening, the gingerbread display is up at the Contemporary Resort, and you can feel the holiday cheer in the air!

we broke the news that the Pork Shanks were officially taken off of the menu at Gaston’s Tavern in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
We also told you we would keep you posted on the potential replacement. So we are here to tell you that now on the menu is the: Tavern Beef Stew!
Let’s see how it compares to the surely missed pork shanks… .
Gaston’s Tavern is of course a tribute to the villain from Beauty and the Beast and offers an atmosphere that stays true to its name. (There are definitely antlers in the decorating!)

I love that Award Wieners often runs specials to coincide with whatever the Disney Movie du jour is. We’ve enjoyed some fun, film-inspired eats and drinks here, like the Teriyaki Street Dog and Coconut Milk Tea that honored Big Hero 6. If you are spending any part of this holiday season in Disney World (which has already officially kicked off with events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party), I’m just going to assume that a visit to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is on your vacation itinerary.
This special holiday event has become even more of a Must-Do this year, with the fact this holiday season is the final chance to watch the Lights dance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Before the Lights even come on, though, lots of folks like to stake out their spot on the Streets of America to wait for the moment when the Lights begin to shine. Fortunately, there are some snacking opportunities to help you pass the time with some tasty treats!
As always, the Pretzel Garden opens up in advance of the show, serving up… well, pretzels, of course. Churros, glazed almonds and pecans, and a few beverages round out the list.
I spotted the ol’ standbys at this little kiosk right away: the Cream Cheese Pretzel and the Mickey-shaped Pretzel.

Are you ready to start your day with Chip & Dale (along with a few more Disney pals) at Epcot’s Garden Grill?!
That’s right! Garden Grill, Disney World’s only rotating restaurant, has been serving dinner only for a while now. But on November 8th, TWO new meals joined the lineup: Garden Grill now serves up breakfast AND lunch, in addition to dinner! (This, by the way, brings the total of Character Breakfasts in Epcot to two, with the Norway Pavilion’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall offering the other option with Princess Storybook Dining. Characters are now at both restaurants for every meal.)
The menu for the new lunch addition nearly duplicates that of Chip ’N’ Dale’s Harvest Feast for dinner. But breakfast is all-new, operating each day from 8:00 to 10:30 am.
