Happy October! The 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is in full swing and we hope everyone is having a great time eating and drinking their way around the Festival!

First Look! Morimoto Asia in Disney World’s Disney Springs

Welcome to the brand new Morimoto Asia Restaurant in The Landing of what is at long last OFFICIALLY Disney Springs!

We’ll be back with a full review on Monday, but today we’re here for a First Look. In some respects, our meal at Morimoto Asia itself was a bit of a First Look, because while dinner seatings are up and running each night beginning at 5:00PM, the restaurant will not be serving lunch or its planned weekend brunch for a few weeks yet (the starting date for these dining opportunities is yet to be announced).

Once it is fully open, operating hours will be 11:00 am to 2:00 am, bringing extended hours — custom-made for a more vibrant nightlife — to Disney World’s ever-transforming and newly renamed dining and entertainment district.

But that’s all logistics… we know you’re itching to take a peek inside Iron Chef Morimoto’s first Pan-Asian restaurant, just like we were!

#OnTheList: Churros at Disneyland

There is a MAJOR nostalgia factor for me with this week’s #OnTheList item, and many west coast Disney park visitors can’t call it a day at Disneyland until they’ve had one of these: a Disneyland Churro!

Now, you may have noticed something interesting about this #OnTheList item. Much like Dole Whip, Churros are indeed available at both Disneyland AND Walt Disney World. News: Waterfront Brunch Coming to Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

A new dining opportunity is coming to Narcoossee’s, one of the signature restaurants at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

A hallmark of Narcoossee’s is the wonderful views it offers of Seven Seas Lagoon, which makes it known as an especially terrific option if you book your Advance Dining Reservation for dinner in coordination with a showtime of Wishes — the Magic Kingdom Fireworks spectacular.

Later this fall, Narcoossee’s will be making the most of its unique setting in the daytime with the new Waterfront Brunch, which will be offered on Sunday mornings beginning November 22, 2015 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The meal will begin with a specialty beverage of either champagne, a Mimosa, or a signature Bloody Mary, while a smoothie option will be available for guests under 21.

Next, a shared basket of pastries will include house-made chocolate and traditional croissants alongside muffins, Danish pastries, and pecan sticky buns, all served with Vermont cultured butter and seasonal jam.

Guests will then choose from an appetizer selection including Onion Soup Gratinee, Shrimp and Grits, Seafood Charcuterie, an Artisanal Cheese Selection or a Romaine Salad. Entree choices will include Lobster Eggs Benedict, Brioche French Toast, Chicken and Waffles, Freshly Caught Seasonal Fish, and Steak and Eggs (among others). Brunch will end with a dessert trio. First Look and Review: Ferrytale Wishes Fireworks Dessert Cruise at Walt Disney World

Set sail on the Seven Seas Lagoon with us today as we take a first look and review a brand new premium offering at Walt Disney World — Ferrytale Wishes, A Fireworks Dessert Cruise.

The special event is still undergoing testing as Disney works to get all of the bugs out before the event’s official debut on Monday, October 5.

I had the opportunity to experience the cruise for myself last week while I was at Walt Disney World for the kickoff of the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Of course, I was anxious to check it out ahead of the opening. I know some of you have already booked the experience, so I’ve been excited to share with you a first look. Let’s head to the boat!

Ferrytale Wishes, A Fireworks Dessert Cruise

The Cruise departs from the Transportation and Ticket Center, so I was instructed to park in the Magic Kingdom parking lot.

I checked in at a location near the entrance to the Ferry Boats Dock. Don’t worry; Cast Members are there to help you find your way. 🙂 As you approach the TTC, just head left as though you plan to board a ferry to Magic Kingdom, and you’ll be in the right place.

Boarding began at 7:45 PM, and we were scheduled to sail at 8:00 PM promptly. Sailing time will change, of course, as it depends on when Wishes will be scheduled each night. Be sure to pay attention to the information for your particular booking. [Read more…]

Well, we already have a glimpse of what changes will be revealed when it reopens tomorrow, October 1st… because an ALL-NEW MENU has been posted on the Walt Disney World website!

That’s right… this former favorite-place-to-grab-a-burger for many Magic Kingdom guests has entirely revamped the menu, now focused on Mexican fare, as opposed to the previous burgers, BBQ sandwiches, and side items like Chili-Cheese Fries.

The next time you mosey on in to pay a visit to Pecos Bill, you’ll see Fajita Platters, Burritos, Rice Bowls, and Salads on the menu.

Let’s get right to it!

Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

Starting with the entree choices: Fajita Platters — with either beef or chicken — seem to be the star entree, and Burritos have a presence as well. All are served with Cilantro Rice and Beans, something we’re already familiar with from Tortuga Tavern (a seasonally-open Counter Service restaurant, which is also currently rumored to be facing a menu change of its own). Beef, Chicken, and Roasted Vegetable Rice Bowls, along with a couple of variations on a Southwest Salad round out the entree choices. [Read more…]

Review: Apple Turnover and White Chocolate Eclair at Epcot’s France

Just when you think you’ve eaten everything there is to eat at Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in France’s Epcot Pavilion…you find a couple more pastries hiding out in the case. It’s a tough life. ;-D

This bakery and pastry shop in Epcot’s France is your one stop for everything for a petite dejeuner in the morning. And their soups, sandwiches, quiches, and cheese plates make for a delicious light meal anytime of the day.

But their decadent pastries are still my favorite things to enjoy here. Today, we try two that are new to us — Chaussons aux Pommes and the Vanilla White Chocolate Éclair.

There’s tons to choose from here, but I couldn’t believe I hadn’t tried the updated version of the Apple Tart. During a recent Orlando rainstorm (deluge…it was a deluge), I took refuge at Les Halles with everyone else and made lemonade out of those lemons!

No lie — I’ve passed over the Chaussons aux Pommes, or Apple Turnover, at Les Halles time and again for flashier stuff and old favorites (Oh, Frangipane). But it was time to try one of these sweet little apple empanadas. [Read more…]

Or should I say, “Welcome Back”? Just last week, we brought you a First Look from Opening Day of the Hangar, and today we’re back for a full review, including every single food item on the menu, several of the specialty cocktails from the uniquely-themed list of libations, and even a glimpse at some of the specialty souvenir drink glasses on their way to Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.

The reasons behind the high levels of anticipation surrounding the opening of the Hangar Bar have been twofold: first, the backstory surrounds Jock Lindsey — a frequent pilot for the movie character of Indiana Jones — so fans of the film franchise were especially excited to have the chance to step inside the story.

Second, the ongoing transformation from Downtown Disney into Disney Springs continues to bring a whole new kind of dining scene to Disney World, including more upscale dining venues like The Boathouse and Morimoto Asia (set to open this coming Wednesday), and uniquely-themed spots such as the one we’re visiting again today.
