We’re tackling another question from the DFB Reader mailbag today! Our reader asks:
Which counter service locations in Walt Disney World have self serve kiosks offering free refills?
This is really relevant question from a budget perspective. Since the Resort Refillable Mugs can’t be used in the parks, you might want to know where you can go to get more than one drink from the soda fountain. Let’s check out a couple of spots where you can grab multiple rounds of drinks when you’re extra thirsty.
Note: You do need to purchase a drink from these locations before filling up your cup again and again! Also, our DFB team members have checked with cast members at each location to confirm that refills are, indeed, allowed during your meal at the restaurant. [Read more…]

OK, I LOVE THIS!!!! It’s been on my list to get over here for-EVER and review this little gem for you guys, so let’s get to it!
(::Leans in conspiratorially to whisper…::) Tell me… have you ever spent much time at the Weinkeller in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion?
Well, git on over there. Cause it’s got some stuffs.
Tucked in next door to Die Weihnachts Ecke Christmas shop (it’s also a neighbor to Biergarten Restaurant), if you walk through the Weinkeller too quickly, you may think it only sells bottles of wine along with some odds and ends like German cookbooks, chocolates, and a few other souvenirs. Well, if you weren’t taken enough with what we can see so far of Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (slated to open in Downtown Disney/Disney Springs this fall), perhaps the latest information from Disney about the upcoming location will whet your appetite…
It’s story time, friends! Here’s a little background on the place… According to Disney, when Jock Lindsey (the frequent pilot of Indiana Jones) flew Indy over Florida while searching for the Fountain of Youth in 1938, he noticed a charming town below and decided to build a home right there on the waterfront. He often entertained his friends from the Society of Explorers and Adventurers in his hangar where they enjoyed drinks and good times.
There seems to be a no-holds-barred approach to the styles of cuisine, as the tapas and beverages will be “inspired by Jock’s globe-trotting to all continents,” which could result in fun twists on anything and everything! In the meantime, Disney has provided a glimpse at some of the eats on the way.
Not only will the decor be inspired by the location’s aviation theme, but it appears some of the plating will, too. Check out the airplane “dish” holding the Pretzels with house-made mustard and beer-cheese fondue…
Dr. Elsa’s She-Deviled Eggs will be topped with lumps of crab and brined in beet juice, while the “Good” Dates will be stuffed with goat cheese and topped with Marcona almonds.
Heavier bites will include Rolling Boulder Sliders: three spice meatball sliders drizzled with yogurt sauce.
But the winner for Best Name (so far) has got to go to the “Squid! Why’d It Have to Be Squid” calamari flatbread with spicy harissa.
Other items will include Brody Brats, Lao Che’s Revenge (spicy Asian wings), Tanis Tacos, and Snack of Ra (African-inspired salads and dips served with bread and naan crisps).
Specialty cocktails will include drinks like The Aviator’s Flight, The Scottish Professor, The Bitter Barkeep (with Peruvian Pisco), a Hovito Mojito, Anything Goes (a spicy cocktail created with an Asian spirit), The Fountain of Youth, featuring Florida vodkas, and a Cool-headed Monkey.
Me? I’ll be ordering a Reggie’s Revenge, with hopes of sipping it while enjoying the waterfront views from Jock’s old dry-docked steamboat…
Looks like plenty of good food and great times are coming to Disney Springs!
What do you think of some of the menu items coming to Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar? Please let us know with a comment!

Amidst all the construction and general day-to-day bustle in Downtown Disney (not to mention some big name restaurants on the way as the Disney Springs transformation moves forward), it’s easy to forget there are a lot of little stands and kiosks dotting the area, including stops like Wetzel’s Pretzels and the Downtown Snow Company featuring shaved ice.
There are a few, though, that don’t have a brand name of any sort. They’re simply marked as “Italian Ice” stands, and you’ll find one on the West Side (next to the Characters in Flight balloon experience) and one in the Marketplace, just by the main stage where guest musicians (often school bands and choirs) perform.
The kiosks are small, but the one on the West Side is especially noticeable thanks to all the bright colors.
The main sign tells you ice cold treats are the headliner, but it just so happens you’ll find a variety of Churros here as well: typically Bavarian Cream, Dulce de Leche (caramel), and King Cinnamon and Sugar. (Alas, those Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches in Disneyland never made their way to the east coast). [Read more…]
It’s party time at Raglan Road Irish Pub.
Located at Downtown Disney (soon to be Disney Springs), the authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant continues its year-long celebration of its 10th anniversary. But, as always, they’re also celebrating the halfway mark to St. Patrick’s Day with their 4th Annual Great Irish Hooley.
The party will take place over Labor Day Weekend, beginning at noon on Friday, September 4, and will continuing through Monday, September 7.
One of the highlights of the weekend will be a collection of craft beers that Ireland’s Rye River Brewing Company has created just for the Hooley! Guests can choose from four limited-edition brews: Raglan Road Saison, Raglan Road Fruit Salad Weiss Beer, McGargles Jims CO2 Stout, and McGargles Francis Tropical American IPA.
We’ll have a chance to taste all four at the beginning of the Hooley; be sure to stay tuned to learn more about them! They promise to pair well with Raglan Road’s menu, which features a mix of traditional and contemporary Irish dishes. [Read more…]

This past May, fans of the Indiana Jones film franchise were excited to learn about the plans for Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar to join the line-up of new dining venues coming to Disney Springs!
The storyline will revolve around Indiana Jones and his pilot (who serves as the name inspiration for the location), Jock Lindsey. While the menu will feature themed tapas and specialty cocktails, the location itself will be decked out with vintage travel posters, aviation equipment, and even correspondence between Indy and Jock. The opening is anticipated for fall of 2015, and based on a recent visit to the site, progress seems to be coming along very nicely indeed! [Read more…]
