News: Breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant is Permanent

The invitation to be the guest of Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts for breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant has been extended. The initial test phase of the prix fixe, “fast, casual” meal at Be Our Guest Restaurant has ended and breakfast is now officially a permanent offering!

Of course, along with change comes… more change ;). This time in the form of a price increase: it will now cost $21.99 for adults to enjoy the prix fixe breakfast at Be Our Guest (the cost was $19.99 during the test period), and $13.99 for children ages 3-9 (previously $11.99).

Breakfast at Be Our Guest remains 1 Counter Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

The official word is that Advance Dining Reservations will open tomorrow, August 5th, via My Disney Experience or by calling (407) WDW-DINE for dates October 4 and extending through the typical 180-day window for reservations. Really, is there a better way you can think of to start the day than with this Disney World breakfast staple? Of course, you can only find it at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but fortunately it’s available in not one, but TWO, locations there: Kona Cafe and Captain Cook’s. (Oh, and just so we’re clear before moving any further, for those who have noticed Tonga Toast on the menu for breakfast at Rainforest Cafe, it’s totally not the same thing.)

Today we’ll be enjoying Captain Cook’s version (as well as discussing the differences from the way it’s served up at Kona Cafe). But no matter where you go to grab your Tonga Toast, you’re just one Monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, making Tonga Toast a must-have breakfast tradition for many Disney World guests regardless of their chosen Resort.

Now, it’s no secret that a LOT of changes have taken place at the Polynesian Village Resort with its Extreme Resort Makevoer ;). Now that the dust has just about settled (in the Great Ceremonial House, anyway), let’s take a quick look around first!

Atmosphere

As mentioned, you can order Tonga Toast at two Polynesian Village Resort restaurants, and if you’re arriving via bus or car, you’ll need to make your way past the entrance into the Polynesian Village Resort lobby. If it’s been a while since you’ve seen the entrance unsurrounded by refurbishment walls on one — if not two — sides, here’s what it (along with some general landscaping) looks like these days.

You know the drill… just think of the Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint, and Strawberries and Cream Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches (not to mention the red, white, and blue version of the Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich that makes its way around in time for Bastille Day in July) that ring in the flavors — and even colors — of the corresponding holiday or season.

And with (technically) two months of summer left, it’s a great time to enjoy the new Peaches & Cream Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich that just hit the scene.

Review: Lotus Blossom Cafe in Epcot’s China Pavilion

The counter service spot, located in Epcot’s China Pavilion, isn’t a frequent stop for me. That’s because, to be honest, there are just lots and lots of other things I’d rather eat around World Showcase. And during my few previous visits, I haven’t been exactly wowed by their offerings.

But, you never know what you’re going to get with Disney restaurants; and since this is the Disney Food Blog after all, here we go!

Atmosphere

Lotus Blossom Cafe is set back a bit within the China Pavilon. Really, among all of the beautiful Pavilions that make up the countries of World Showcase, China holds its own. The detail and decor here is stunning.

And a couple of weeks ago when I was wandering Hollywood Studios checking out the latest menus and Frozen extravaganzas, I popped into The Trolley Car Cafe to see if anything had changed in their bakery case.

Nothing had, but I DID see a new sign up on the wall advertising a couple of icy new drinks. And because it was dead in there (I guess because nobody was thinking they should go to Starbucks for a coffee in the middle of July in Orlando), the delightful Cast Members and I started to discuss… .

News: Full Menus Announced for the 2015 Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic

While we’ve been focusing on all the excitement that Fall brings for Disney Food Fans, we have another fun event to update you about — the 2015 Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic!

The two-night event, back by popular demand for the sixth year in a row, will once again take place over Halloween Weekend in 2015. Mark your calendars for Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31!

The Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic is made up of two components: Seminars and the Causeway. Seminars center around learning more about food and beverage in a fun, interactive way. For more details on this year’s Food and Wine Classic Seminars, be sure to check out our Food and Wine Classic Seminar Page.

But guests stay and play for the evening on the Causeway!

If you’re new to the Food and Wine Classic, the Causeway is a collection of food and beverage booths set up in the walkway that links the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. Every single restaurant from both the Swan and Dolphin — all nine! — participate, and bring tapas-sized eats to the party. Chef Robert Ciborowski, the executive chef of the Swan and Dolphin Resort, also prepares some dishes in Cib’s Smoke Shop.

2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Premium Package Details

Last year, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival Premium Packages debuted at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival — and they were a big hit! For those interested in the 2015 Food and Wine Festival Premium Packages, they are indeed returning!

Please note: Be sure to call (407) WDW-FEST for specific details and inquiries.

So, through info from our readers as well as our own phone calls to 407-WDW-FEST we’re piecing together a few details for ya on this Premium Package for 2015. Note that all of this is subject to change, but we wanted to be sure you knew that the package is back so you can get on the horn and book it yourself before it sells out.

Here are all of the package details:

Packages are available Monday through Thursday of each full week of the Festival.
Each Premium Package includes access to eleven designated shaded Premium Package Areas throughout Epcot, offering concierge service (i.e. Cast Members will go purchase your booth items for you and bring them back to you in the Premium area) from 12:00 noon to 8 pm.
Each Premium Package will also include one Amenity Bag (to be picked up at the Festival Center) including a bottle of 20th Anniversary Celebratory Wine, a wine glass, and one Festival-themed MagicBand.
The Premium Package will include 4 Entitlement Tags for use at the Premium Package Areas running concierge service for the Festival Booths. This means you’ll get 4 booth menu items for free as part of your package. (Usually the free options don’t include super expensive stuff like Dom Perignon.)
Premium Packages will include a ticket to your choice of either a Culinary Demonstration (during the 5 PM slot) OR a Beverage Seminar (during the 2 PM slot) during the week of participation.
Premium Packages also provide entry to the IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party.
Admission to Epcot is NOT included with the Premium Package.

How to Book Epcot Food and Wine Festival Events

To book all special events and demonstrations, call 407-WDW-FEST (939-3378) starting Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 7AM ET (join the Disney Food Blog Newsletter to find out as soon as we do about all the details!). Culinary Demonstrations, Beverage Seminars, Mixology Seminars, and general admission for some special events will be bookable online at www.epcotfoodfestival.com.

Tables in Wonderland members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Golden Oak Residents may be eligible for a $2 discount (per person, per event) for beverage and mixology seminars and culinary demos taking place Mon-Thurs during the festival. These members will be able to book seminars and demos on July 24th at 9AM ET. Discounts are by phone at 407-WDW-FEST (939-3378) or through DVC Member Services. Dining in Disneyland: Diamond Celebration Chocolate Cake from Plaza Inn

The Disneyland Resort has gone all out for Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration. Special decor, special merchandise, and most importantly, special food!

On a recent visit to Plaza Inn, I noticed an intriguing dessert that I had to try, Diamond Celebration Chocolate Cake. Honestly, I bought this out of curiosity because it sounded like a bizarre mix of flavors to me.

The description alone seemed crazy: Chocolate Cake layered with Passion Fruit, Mango & Banana Mousse, Apricot Compote and smothered with a Milk Chocolate Caramel Ganache and Crunchy Chocolate Pearls.
