News: Tiffins Restaurant and Nomad Lounge Open Memorial Day Weekend in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Though the Rivers of Light evening spectacular coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been delayed indefinitely from its originally scheduled date of April 22nd, nighttime celebrations will be ON at the park as of Memorial Day Weekend.

Animal Kingdom’s first signature restaurant, Tiffins, will open for lunch and dinner along with the adjacent Nomad Lounge on Memorial Day Weekend. Further information regarding the availability of Advance Dining Reservations for Tiffins will be made available on May 20th. (Reservations will not be needed for Nomad Lounge.)

On offer will be global dishes like Berbere-Spiced Lamb Chop with Mustard Greens and Lentil Stew and Mint Chutney representing African cuisine. Berkshire Pork Tenderloin with Huitlacoche Tamale as well as Hominy Succotash and Red Mole Sauce will represent South America, and Miso-glazed Black Cod with Forbidden Rice in Steamed Bok Choy with Turmeric Sauce will represent Asian cuisine. Also set to debut are two new nighttime street festivals, the Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island Carnivale. Both celebrations will feature music and dancing, along with exotic food and beverages. [Read more…]

News: Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party Takes Over FastPass Viewing Area in the Magic Kingdom

Disney is expanding the elbow room for guests who are attending the Wishes Dessert Party in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The kicker? They’re using the area that, up to now, has been designated for viewing Wishes with a FastPass.

Effective immediately, guests who take advantage of same-day booking for this premium event will move into the Main Street Plaza Gardens when the fireworks begin. Guests who booked their Wishes Dessert Party in advance can choose to remain in the Tomorrowland Terrace for fireworks viewing, or join the other guests in the Gardens. [Read more…]

CONFIRMED: Star Wars Themed Dinner Club Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We first mentioned this a while back in this post about some of the dining options that we can expect when Star Wars Land opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But while we had confirmation at that time of a Cantina, today, we can confirm that there will also be a Dinner Club!

Disney has released a brand new artist rendering, which further cements their plans to build an immersive table service experience in Star Wars Land.

Review: Hard Root Beer Float at Epcot’s Fife & Drum Tavern

As the temperatures are rising in Central Florida, there have already been a few warm afternoons this year when a Root Beer Float seems like it would be just the thing to hit the spot.

If you feel the same way about this classic concoction, then you’re in luck, because you’ll find them around every Disney World park in spots like Magic Kingdom’s Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, Animal Kingdom’s Trilo-Bites, and KRNR: The Rock Station in Hollywood Studios.

In several locations, you can substitute your preferred soda based on available flavors. For instance, I know plenty of people who like to go for a Coke Float, but I’ve always preferred Root Beer myself.

But while it’s true that we always think of this treat as being for kids, the Fife & Drum Tavern in Epcot’s American Adventure Pavilion is offering a Float made ONLY for grown-ups: the Hard Root Beer Float.

News! “The Daily Poutine” Coming to Disney Springs in Walt Disney World

Just last month, we learned of two new food kiosks on the way to Disney Springs.

While upcoming dining venues like D-Luxe Burger, Amorette’s Patisserie, Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, and Sprinkles (just to name a few) have garnered their fair share of headlines, for a while the only information available regarding B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. and AristoCrepes was that they are “Coming Soon,” thanks to signs that suddenly appeared in Disney Springs several weeks ago.

Review: Sweet Chili-Glazed Chicken Nuggets at Oasis Canteen in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios has really been changing things up on us lately!

Of course, we saw some of this coming with fair warning: we knew that several Counter Service spots would be closing in early April to make way for the construction of Star Wars and Toy Story Lands. So far, construction has most affected the former Streets of America section of the park, and the remaining dining location in that area — Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano — is now part of the recently renamed area of Muppets Courtyard (meanwhile, its nearby neighbor, Toy Story Pizza Planet, is closed for a major makeover of its own).

Suddenly down a few dining locations, rumors of additions are starting to swirl (like a possible themed bar coming to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction). That’s just a glimpse of some of the changes around the park. And as much as these changes are highly likely to result in a really great experience once the new Lands are complete, it’s all enough to make you want to visit a tried-and-true spot and soak in some familiarity.

So it came as a fairly big surprise when one of those tried-and-trues revealed an entirely new menu on our most recent visit.
