Disney Throwback Recipe: Napoleon from Epcot’s Boulangerie Patisserie

Today, I’m feeling a little nostalgic for some of my favorites from the OLD Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot’s France Pavilion.

Sure, the new and improved Boulangerie Patisserie Les Halles, with its expanded counter and indoor seating, is super nice! And the pastries and other offerings are pretty delicious.

Still, every once in awhile, I get a craving for something that’s been tweaked right out of existence, like the classic Napoleon that used to be one of the Boulangerie Patisserie’s hallmark pastries.

If you enjoy this delicacy as well, I have great news: with a few steps, you can replicate the awesomeness at home!

Photos and Review Part 2: Spice Road Table in Walt Disney World’s Epcot

Just a couple of days ago, we brought you a first look at the brandest, newest restaurant in Disney World!

Today, we finally get to sample even more of the menu from Epcot’s brand new eatery, Spice Road Table!

Located right on the water in the Morocco Pavilion within World Showcase, Epcot’s newest restaurant offers small plates and an interesting wine list featuring bottles from throughout the Mediterranean region.

Last week, we gave you a sneak peek at the inside of the Spice Road Table, as well as the new shops and Juice Bar! In addition, we had the opportunity to taste several of the desserts that are featured here, and we’re loving everything we’ve sampled so far!

Speaking of burgers, there’s a brand new Bacon Cheeseburger Mac ‘n Cheese entree at Friar’s Nook in the Magic Kingdom. It’s hearty and delicious!
Thankfully our favorite Animal Kingdom hang-out — Dawa Bar — has been relocated (and not closed!) to a new location. Check it out!

Photos and Review Part 1: The NEW Spice Road Table in Walt Disney World’s Epcot!

Hooray! We’re finally celebrating our first taste of Spice Road Table!

We’ve been eating our little hearts out at Epcot’s newest tapas restaurant and we can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Our review will be broken into a few parts, since there’s SO much to share!

Spice Road Table will be soft opening on Saturday for the public (a grand opening has not yet been scheduled), and we want to hear what you think! The tapas-only restaurant features small plates (which means you can order a LOT!) as well as specialty drinks, a full bar, wines, beers, and more.

There’s even some chef-crafted ice cream (we got to try all five flavors!!) — scroll down to see our review and some fun pics!

But first, let’s take a look around…

Here you’ll see pictures of the new Juice Bar, the outdoor seating at the restaurant, and even the indoor decor! It’s gorgeous!! We can’t wait for you to check it out!

Atmosphere

Spice Road Table, Epcot’s newest restaurant taking up residence on the shores of World Showcase Lagoon in the Morocco Pavilion, will surely be a destination for many Disney food lovers like me!

The space combines 60 indoor seats and 120 outdoor seats, so guests will be comfortable no matter the weather. Now, let’s take a peek INSIDE the restaurant!

As you can see, the space inside is small, but well appointed. There is a view of the water from every single table through the giant wall of windows looking onto World Showcase Lagoon.

Yep — this will absolutely be a hot ticket for the fireworks!

Decor elements include bright colors, plenty of Moroccan additions, and some truly gorgeous lamps and lanterns.

Review: Animal Kingdom’s Newly Renovated Dawa Bar

Animal Kingdom’s Dawa Bar is considered by many to be something of a hidden gem. Tucked into a corner of the always-bustling Harambe Village in the Africa section of the park, the location is prime for anyone going to or from Kilimajaro Safari.

But it’s always blended so well into its surroundings that one could really walk right past it and not even know.

I stopped by recently to see what was new. As it turns out, it was a whole lot! The Dawa Bar has been relocated!

Atmosphere

Now, when I say “relocated,” it actually hasn’t moved all that far 🙂 . You will still head to the same area of Harambe Village – just head to your left upon entering Africa from Discovery Island, and directly across from Tamu Tamu Refreshments and Mombasa Marketplace.

However, the bar is now directly to the right when facing the Tusker House Check-In line, whereas it was previously on the left.

News and Photos! Spice Road Table Soft Opens in Epcot on Saturday!

We’re so excited to share the awesome news that Spice Road Table, Morocco’s newest eatery, is scheduled to open to the public for a soft opening on Saturday! Woo-hoo!

Disney Food Blog exclusively broke the official news that Morocco was introducing a new small plates restaurant way back in 2012!

We’ve watched the progress with eager eyes and can’t wait to try out the new spot, which we KNOW will be a great location for catching the IllumiNations fireworks!

Here’s a little photo tour of the new location, straight from Epcot today! You can see that construction walls are still up, so Disney’s going to be burning the midnight oil for the next two days getting this spot up and running… .

Great Places to Celebrate your runDisney Race!

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is upon us

! And it got us thinking… where would we most like to relax and celebrate after a runDisney race in Disney World? There are lots of things to consider when planning your post-race celebration. So, lace up, friends, and read on!

Located in the heart of the Contemporary Resort, Chef Mickey’s fun-filled buffet is also character meal featuring the Fab Five… which, of course, includes the Big Cheese himself, Mickey Mouse!

Pros:
• A great buffet with an abundance of choices to fill most any post-race craving;

• If your race happens during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January, this is the place where you can get your picture taken with a character that likely matches the one on your medal! (Minnie for 10K finishers, Donald for Half Marathon finishers, Mickey for full Marathon finishers, and Goofy for those just goofy enough to run both the half and the full!)

Cons:
• There will be a fair bit of standing (for character pics) and walking (to and from the buffet)… something to keep in mind for tired legs;

• Chef Mickey’s is not open for lunch (when most runners will finish the full marathon), so you’ll need to wait for dinner or next morning’s breakfast to celebrate.

What’s Your Favorite Restaurant in Each Walt Disney World Park?

One question I get asked ALL the time: “What are your favorite Disney restaurants?”

And my answer is always the same: “My favorites are always changing, because the only consistent thing about Disney restaurants is that they’re inconsistent!” That said, I do have a few that I head back to over and over again… .

It’s fun to seek out new things, to be sure. And Disney is always introducing new restaurants! But still, it’s always comforting to go back to the same place each visit and have your favorite meal.

So today, my question for YOU is: What is your favorite restaurant in each of the four Walt Disney World Parks? What table would you park your feet under during each and every visit if you could? (Or do you?)

Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom

Ah, Liberty Tree. You have been around since the dawn of time. (Or at least since pretty much the first day that Magic Kingdom was opened.)

And while lots of fantastic places to eat in Magic Kingdom have come about since then, I’d still eat at Liberty Tree Tavern during every single visit if I could.

Lots of Disney fans prefer dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, which is a family-style, all you care to eat affair, offering carved meats and sides. Having traditional Thanksgiving foods all year around is a treat, after all! But I really prefer lunch, because I can get my favorite: the amazing Liberty Tree Tavern Burger!

And there’s no better way to finish the meal than one of my favorite Disney desserts, the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! This has been on and off the menu in recent months, but we’re always glad when it’s on-again.

Review: NEW Jiminy Cricket’s Slush at Magic Kingdom’s Pinocchio Village Haus

We just reported on some killer Bacon Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese from right across the way at Friar’s Nook.

Well, today, we’re heading to the other side of the Carousel to sample a brand new slush at Pinocchio Village Haus. Big thanks to our friend Joey Beyer for letting us know about this one!

Yesterday, we braved the plummeting Florida temperatures and headed to Old Fantasyland (Classic Fantasyland?) to try a new addition to the Disney Slush Family — Jiminy Cricket’s Slush! (Don’t worry about the cold…we hear it will be perfect slush-enjoying weather again by the weekend!)

But back to the beverage at hand. It appears on the menu placards at each ordering station. And this is the perfect place for this particular slush. After all, Jiminy Cricket is Pinnochio’s trusty sidekick. 🙂

The description sounded…well…interesting. The Mango-Blue Raspberry Slush is served with a topping of Whipped Cream and “Fruit Syrup.” Not sure what the “fruit” is, but we were intrigued.

And slush + whipped cream reminded me of the Orange Slush at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe over in Tomorrowland.
