Thanks to Pam Brandon over at the Disney Parks Blog, we have even more details on the new Landscape of Flavors food court (which seems to have undergone a name change since we last reported!) opening this summer with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort!
According to Disney Parks and Resorts Director of Food & Beverage Concept Development, Chef Ed Wronski, the focus of this new type of food court is customization. Guests will be able to “make your own” and choose from a variety of options more often in this spot.
Start planning now how you want to create your gelato sundae, smoothies, omelet, pasta, salad, sandwich, and more! There will also be a focus on “better-for-you” options in this location, so perhaps going of your diet won’t be as much of a temptation here! (Wait a minute…who are we kidding? They’ll still have Mickey Bars won’t they?)
Like the other value and moderate resorts, this food court will still be a regular old food court in that it will have five “shops,” each themed to a particular type of food.

Editor’s Note: Both Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom and Fountainview in Epcot are now Starbucks locations and do not currently offer Customized Ice Cream Sandwiches. They are still available in Magic Kingdom at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. At Epcot, you can find Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches at L’Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion. Look for them at Dino Bites in Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Scoops in Hollywood Studios.
One of my faaaaaaaaaavorite snacks in Disney World is the homemade ice cream cookie sandwich that can be found in all four parks.
Now I’m not talking about the Nestle “pre-packaged” version (although those are delicious); I’m talking about the fully homemade, ginormous-cookies-with-two-scoops-of-ice-cream-smooshed-between-’em ice cream cookie sammich. Oh look! Here’s one now!
Yep, these have been cult favorites in Disney parks for years. They’ve long been my breakfast of choice from the Main Street Bakery (well, those and the cinnamon rolls of course). 😉

Arriving to Aulani on October 15, my husband Kev and I selected familiar WDW items — refillable mugs! We purchased purple and blue refillable mugs, which have an Aulani design that matches the beige wallpaper in the halls of the hotel. Red and green options were also available.
Even though the mugs are more expensive at Aulani, we felt we got our money’s worth at $18.99 each over the week we were there.
We had dinner at Ama Ama — Kev’s salt crusted fish was like nothing we’d ever seen before, with a completely removable crust. He said it was very moist.
I had the French Maui onion soup and a tomato and cheese salad (two appetizers instead of an entree). Both were excellent.
We had a character breakfast at Makahiki with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. I wasn’t as excited about the buffet as some at Disney World, but I did enjoy the [Read more…]

Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World has added a new item to the menu: Breakfast Bread Pudding!
This looks a heck of a lot like dessert to me, but, then again, so did my stuffed french toast when I ate there!
According to the source, this includes bread pudding, Mascarpone, chocolate shavings, and fresh berries. Yum!!

Many folks hear “Disney” and immediately think of Dumbo, oppressive heat, or waiting in lines all day. But one of our many goals here at the Disney Food Blog is to show another side of Disney — the side that includes yummy eats, relaxing restaurants, indulgent drinks, and even a few sophisticated wines!
For example, I knew that a few vineyards had ties to Disney, but I had no idea how many winemakers were somehow associated with the man and his mirthful creations! Here are four that we found had ties to the Disney name…would love to hear of others, or to hear your reviews of these companies!
The eldest daughter of Walt and Lillian Disney, Diane Disney Miller, purchased a Napa Valley vineyard in the early 1970s with her husband, Ronald Miller.
After successfully selling the fruits of their labor to wineries, they decided to go into the wine business themselves, creating Silverado Vineyard Winery, which opened in 1981.
“It was beautiful land, and it was land that was working,” said Diane Miller of their first vineyards.

A recent trip up to Disney’s Soda Fountain & Studio Store in Hollywood led me to discover these adorable Limited Edition ice cream themed pins that I just had to have. Just released recently, there are only 300 of each pin available.
The pins will set you back $10.95 a piece. I wish those ol’ time ice cream prices on the signs still rang true!

Over the past few years, Italy has become one of my favorite countries in Epcot. They have the best pizza in Disney World, a little tiny canal to remind me of wandering around Venice, a fun mask painter, and, of course, gelato.
The little gelato stand in Italy is easy to walk by without noticing. It looks like several other plain kiosks in Epcot — the ones that sell coffee and those ubiquitous cookies and pastries (which aren’t bad, but they don’t hold a candle to what I’m about to show you).
But when you get a little closer and check out the menu, you’ll notice that you’re in for a little surprise. When I stopped by this kiosk recently, I had no intention of getting any gelato. But as soon as I saw those gelato “creations” in the middle, I knew I had no choice! It was on! You can’t call something a “creation” and think I’m gonna just walk on by! 😉
I was stuck between the Amicizia and the Delizia, but ended up going for the latter — I loved the idea of cookies and cream gelato with strawberry sauce!
This incredibly rich, shareable treat has three scoops of gelato: cookies and cream — which reminds me of one of my favorite flavors from my Italy backpacking days: stracciatella, Fior di Latte — which is a milk-flavored gelato (thanks for setting me straight on this one, J Hayes!), and strawberry!
This is all topped with a thick strawberry sauce, a pile of whipped cream, and whole strawberries! And it looks a little something like this! [Read more…]
