It’s official, everyone! The big news this week: Starbucks is coming to Disney Parks! Whether you love it or hate it, the coffee king will be opening six locations soon — one in each domestic Disney park.

Sure, we had an amazing dinner during my recent (and very first! But not my last!) trip to Bongos Cuban Cafe recently.

But I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret from you from that evening!! What I haven’t told you yet? There’s deliciousness to be enjoyed at Bongos even in their gift shop!

We spied this display in the shop, right next to the cashier, and I was intrigued. They looked like they’d be pretty bad, overly-preserved Little Debbie knock-offs, but I knew we had to check them out for ya!

What is a popsycake, you ask? Well, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock like me (or your love is only for Mickey Bars and Disney cupcakes), you’ve heard of the cake pop craze.

Think of an enormous cake pop, but with a pretzel rod for a stick. Because really, if you can do away with the inedible parts of food wrapping, you SO should.

First Look! New Princess Cookies

Just last week some new Disney Princess cookies were introduced at the Disneyland Resort. I spotted them at Marceline’s in Downtown Disney. Not only did I conduct a little princess photo shoot on the spot, but I also took Ariel home with me for a taste test!

The generously sized cookies are all “Honey Vanilla” in flavor. They’re available in 4 different designs and will set you back just under $5.00.

Disney-Themed Ice Cream Takes the Art World By Storm

During a design experiment, the advertising agency STOYN took iconic figures easily recognized in global culture and made them into ice cream images (Um…awesome!!).

In August 2011, this ice cream art was on display and for purchase at the Fountain Art Fair in Miami. Check out a few of these rockin’ creations!

What’s Your Ideal “Disney Dining Plan”?

So, yesterday there’s a bit of a to-do about the Disney Dining Plan. Apparently there’s a typo in Disney’s official PDF describing the Standard Disney Dining Plan, indicating that an appetizer is available with all table-service meals.

Based on calls to Disney Dining (speaking to supervisors and managers), Erin heard that this is, indeed, just a typo and not a change in policy. But if it WAS true, that’d be awesome!

And this got me thinking… what if we could design our very own Disney Dining Plan based on the way we and our families eat in Disney World!?

What Would YOUR Ideal Disney Dining Plan Look Like?

So what if they introduced a “Magic Your Way Dining Plan,” where guests could build their own individualized plan off of a base plan? Let’s dream a little, shall we?

One thing that we keep hearing: the Standard Dining Plan is too little, the Deluxe Dining Plan is too much (and yup, we know…it TOTALLY works just fine for some folks.) So, what if you could change things up a bit?

Not a big fan of sit-down breakfast? You could add more counter service meals or snacks in to make for a light first meal o’ the day. What if your little ones have no interest in sitting still for table service? Not a problem! Which brings us to another pie in the sky option…

Guest Review: Disney’s Least Ordered Menu Items

My last trip to Disney World happened to fall over One More Disney Day, the 24-hour celebration of Leap Day that occurred in the Magic Kingdom and in Disneyland on February 29th. In thinking about what I’d do with one more day, all the things I’d eat came immediately to mind.

Of course, the hardest part about dining in Disney World is deciding what to have. There are so many great choices, from food on a stick to filet mignon. But I wanted to do something different. And so, a rather bizarre experiment was born — the least ordered item experiment.

Popular Dishes

You see, there are many dishes in Disney World that are well-known and sought after. The dole whip float. A hot dog from Casey’s. The cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier, the wings at ‘Ohana, and the ubiquitous turkey leg.

And while there’s likely a good reason for the popularity of these items (all but two of which I also enjoyed during this trip), I imagined that there were just as many amazing — yet unknown and under-appreciated — menu items in Disney World. So I set out to find them.

During my trip, at two different restaurants — one counter service and one table service — I chose to sample the least-ordered menu items. Of course, this was in no way a scientific study. I didn’t ask for ordering statistics or an ‘items sold’ pie chart.

I simply asked the cast member taking my order ‘What item on the menu is ordered the least?’ Yes, they both looked at me kind of strangely at first, but so what? I was also walking around sporting gold sequined, feathered Mickey ears.

Least Ordered Dish — Counter Service

Because I was super excited to get this experiment underway — and I had an early morning flight and skipped breakfast — my first stop after getting off of the Magical Express was the closest counter service location, which in my case was The Mara, at Animal Kindgom Lodge Jambo House.
