On this glorious Friday, I thought we’d highlight another beloved snack in Epcot’s Norway — the Rice Cream!

Disney World Free Dining for Fall 2012, Visa Cardholders Only

Finally, we’re making some headway on a question that’s been hanging out there for months!

Disney has announced FREE dining for Disney Reward Visa Card holders for dates in August and September 2012.

DATES AVAILABLE: August 25-September 29, 2012
MUST BE BOOKED BY: May 18th, 2012.

As with the past free dining offers, guests staying at Disney VALUE resorts will receive the Disney Magic Your Way Quick-Service Dining Plan, but can upgrade to the standard or deluxe dining plans by paying the difference in cost per night.

Guests staying at Disney MODERATE, DELUXE, or VILLA resorts will receive the Disney Magic Your Way Plus Dining Plan (the standard dining plan), but can upgrade to the deluxe dining plan by paying the difference in cost per night. Most, but not all, Disney resort rooms are included; availability is limited.

Guest Review: Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort Dining

Welcome Ryan P. Wilson from one of my favorite blogs — Main Street Gazette — with a guest review from Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. Let’s head to South Carolina – thanks, Ryan!

It may come as a shock to frequent Walt Disney World or Disneyland guests out there, but there is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort that does not come complete with its own table service restaurant!

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, located not surprisingly on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, actually spans two separate locations: the Beach House, which caters to the daily needs of beach-goers, and the main resort, which is outfitted with an assortment of guest rooms. Both of these areas have quick service locations, but today let’s stick to the resort itself.

Atmosphere

Tide Me Over

is the resort’s quick service stop, located in the Broad Creek Mercantile in the hub of the resort’s activity zone. Rentals of bicycles and fishing poles, the marsh-surrounded dock, campfire, swimming pool, and shop are all located in the same hub as the restaurant.

Unlike most dining establishments, however, all of Tide Me Over’s seating is outdoors. While some of the picnic tables are covered, the Mickey-posted stools offer up my favorite view!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jiko has announced their first Wine Dinner of 2012!

Jiko kicks off this year’s Wine Dinner series highlighting the wines of Paul Cluver on Thursday April 5, 2012, at 6:00 PM.

The Cluver Family has owned property in the Elgin Valley near Cape Town since 1896 and are known as pioneers of wine in the area. The chefs at Jiko will create a masterful menu including some great wine pairings.

Jiko’s wine dinners are particularly recommended not only for the outstanding food and wine, but also for the chance to speak with a winemaker who has come all the way from South Africa. This is something we don’t get to do everyday, and I give props to Jiko for going to distance to make sure these events are high-quality and out of the ordinary.

Walt Disney Ate Here: The Tam O’ Shanter

Located just a few miles away from the Disney Studios in Burbank, The Tam O’ Shanter is Los Angeles’ oldest restaurant that has remained in the same location under the same ownership and management since 1922.

AND Walt Disney ate here. A lot.

The Tam O’ Shanter was very close to Walt’s Hyperion Studio when it opened. He frequented the restaurant so often that is was commonly referred to as the “studio commissary.”

After seeing Beauty and the Beast in 3D at the Disney Studios, my family and I decided head over to The Tam O’ Shanter to check it out — and possibly sit where Walt once sat, Table 31.

Atmosphere

I made us a reservation, which I highly recommend as the restaurant does get fairly busy. I even requested Table 31. Since it was dark, my pictures really don’t do the building justice. The restaurant looks like a quaint cottage located smack in the middle of a busy Los Feliz Boulevard.
