Snack Review x 2: Cake Pops

Disney has had cake pops in their candy stores and bakeries for several months now, and they seem to have stuck!

Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster wrote an in-depth review for DFB last year on this sweet phenomenon done Disney-style.

Review: Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

“Aloha, ahoy, aha! And welcome to the mystery, romance, and adventure of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar.”

These are the words that lure you into Trader Sam’s story when you first look at a menu in this brand new Tiki bar in the Disneyland Hotel! In fact, a good friend of mine has referred to it as “the best of the Jungle Cruise, Adventurers Club, and Tiki Room rolled into a liquor license.” I heartily agree.

If you’ve dined at the 50’s Prime Time Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you probably have a fond memory (or more!) of your server’s antics.

Here’s the storyline (every good Disney restaurant has a storyline, after all!): This restaurant is set up with the theme of a 1950’s kitchen, and “mom” is back behind the wall stirring up some grub! Of course, your servers are all part of the family, so they’re referred to as “cousins” or “uncles”!

Should you make any major faux pas (like putting your elbows on the table or not finishing your vegetables), your “cousin” or “uncle” could very well dole out a little punishment! Guests have found themselves standing in the corner, singing My Little Teapot in front of the whole restaurant, and more! Of course, the experience really does depend on who your server is (I’ve had some duds in my time), but more often than not, this is a really fun experience.

Finally! The great Disney Free Dining for Fall 2012 has now been opened up to the general public (previously it had only been available to Disney Visa Reward Cardholders).

Dates for this deal are in August and September 2012!

DATES AVAILABLE: August 25-September 29, 2012
MUST BE BOOKED BY: May 18th, 2012.

As always, free dining is offered based on where you’re staying. Guests at Disney VALUE resorts will receive the Disney Magic Your Way Quick-Service Dining Plan, but can upgrade to the standard or deluxe dining plans by paying the difference in cost per night.

Guests staying at Disney MODERATE, DELUXE, or VILLA resorts will receive the Disney Magic Your Way Plus Dining Plan (the standard dining plan), but can upgrade to the deluxe dining plan by paying the difference in cost per night.

Most, but not all, Disney resort rooms are included, and availability is extremely limited on this offer.

The Cape May Cafe Clambake was a dinner I’d never been to, and one my mom had been dying to try. So when my parents were in Disney World at the same time we were recently, we gave it a go!

Cape May Cafe is an open and airy buffet restaurant adorned with pastel impressionist paintings depicting beach scenes, colorful beach umbrellas and folding chairs, carpet that brings beach balls to mind, and the stick style architecture seen throughout Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

Coffee Margarita Now Available at Cava del Tequila in Epcot

Fun news for coffee and margarita lovers!

We recently heard that Epcot’s La Cava del Tequila is now offering a mezcal coffee margarita (a full-size version of this one that we got the chance to taste two years ago)! Don’t worry…yours will be MUCH bigger. Ours was just a small shot-sized sample. 😉
