Top Five Must-Eat Chocolate Covered Disney Snacks

If you’re of the opinion that dunking something in chocolate makes everything better, I’ve got a few snacks that you really need to sample!

Here are my top five chocolate-covered snacks in Disney World and Disneyland (not necessarily in order of beloved-ness ;-)). And I can’t wait to hear yours (mostly because then I get to go find them and chomp them)!

Chocolate-Covered Sea Salt Caramel

I found this treat on one of my many Karamell-Küche visits in Epcot’s Germany! One of several chocolate-y and caramel-y treats, it’s got the benefit of three distinct tastes and textures.

The chewy, super-sweet caramel is the central feature and taste, and it’s complemented by that creamy milk or dark chocolate (the dark chocolate will give a slight bitterness to the taste, which gives even more depth to the flavor!). The sea salt on the top gives a slight crunch and a solid kapow to your taste buds, making the sweet even sweeter! If you’ve been avoiding the salty-sweet trend that’s become so popular, this might be the best way to take your first step into that taste juxtaposition! You can always brush some of the salt off if you don’t like it. 🙂

Peanut Butter Sandwich

This gorgeous confection, which I simply refer to as the peanut butter sandwich, used to be sold at Disney Parks on both coasts, but lately we’ve only found it in Disneyland. (It IS in Disneyland, though…I promise!)

If you’ve ever asked yourself this question, I definitely have the answer for you: Biergarten.

While you may be able to find large quantities of brew through beer flights and pints at other watering holes, the place to really indulge in a massive stein of golden goodness while relaxing and enjoying a show is at this fun, rollicking spot in Epcot’s Germany pavilion.

A Valentine’s Day “Family Date” at Disney’s Soda Fountain

When I think of Lady and the Tramp, my mind immediately goes straight to the “Spaghetti Kiss” outside of Tony’s Italian restaurant where the cute pups enjoy their first date. Well… that and the Siamese cat scene.

This year, Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store in Hollywood is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a very special candlelight dinner where you can engage in your own spaghetti kiss, if you please…

Review: School Bread in Epcot’s Norway

School Bread has long been a beloved snack for many Walt Disney World visitors, and more guests are being introduced to its deliciousness every day. While we’ve mentioned it on the blog before, I’ve never actually done a full review of it! So let’s get started!

This treat, found in Epcot’s Norway pavilion at Kringla Bakeri og Cafe, is actually pretty simple. A sweet bread roll is injected with vanilla pudding or custard, then covered with sweet icing and toasted coconut. The School Bread recipe comes from a classic Norwegian snack (properly titled “Skolebrød”), which kids took to school in their packed lunches or parents sold at bake sales.

The description aside, this is one of those Disney World snacks that actually isn’t too sweet! Which is possibly why so many people love it. This yummy treat won’t knock you on your kiester for the rest of the day — at least in my experience — so it gives folks a good “rest” snack before moving on with the rest of their Epcot touring!

Regarding taste and texture, the bread here is a cross between a cinnamon roll and a dinner roll. It’s not super moist — more springy. But the sweet vanilla custard is extremely smooth and abundant (my big worry before trying this snack was that there wouldn’t be enough custard — not a problem). And the [Read more…]

More Fat-Free Fun! Disneyland Food Graphic Suitcase Now Available

More and more, we’re seeing iconic Disney food depicted as graphics, shapes, and patterns in Disney merchandise. You’ll remember the Mickey Bar-shaped antenna topper and the Mickey breakfast pajama pants, of course. And who can forget the Disney food playset and the Disney food magnets!

But walking through the lobby of the Grand Californian Friday night, I spotted what I think is quite possibly the coolest “food” merchandise I’ve ever come across. So cool that I have a strong feeling I will be back to buy it.

I love Disney Food. I love Disney travel. SO, why not combine the two for a super awesome, totally radical new Disney food suitcase? This beauty was calling my name from its pedestal in the lobby gift shop.

Foodie Suitcase Perfection

The fun snack food designs are what caught my eye first. I noticed the Mickey Bars, popcorn, lollipops, and cotton candy. Already I’m sold. THEN I saw that it was specific to Disneyland Resort and noticed the text that read Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. So fun.

Welcome Aboard at the Captain’s Grille at Disney World’s Yacht Club Resort!

While this restaurant flies mostly under the radar for most folks, it does offer decent food and — even better — an easy-to-get table even if you don’t have reservations. Most of the time you’ll be able to walk right into Captain’s Grille and be seated, but it always pays to make reservations just in case.

I had a bit of a surprising meal here… read on to find out why!

Atmosphere

Captain’s Grille is one of those “lost” mid-priced Disney resort restaurants, which makes it a relatively quiet and calm place to grab a bite!

Themed similarly to the Yacht Club Resort, Captain’s Grille features model sailboats and subdued nautical decor coupled with light wood furniture.

News! The Latest Foodie Vinylmations!

Kitchen Kabaret Vinylmation Set

Drum roll please… The Kitchen Kabaret Vinylmation set that we reported on back in September has now been released.

Broccoli Vinylmation is one of Six in the Kitchen Kabaret Vinylmation Set

The 6-piece set is being sold at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland D-Street locations as well as few select in-park shops, retailing for $99.95. I’m not at the parks this week, so I’ll have to wait until the mailman brings me my set to show you up-close-and-personal photos of these vinyl veggies.

But to keep your hunger at bay, I do have a few foodie Vinylmation pictures for you to snack on.

Valentine’s Day Box of Chocolates

For all you lovebirds out there, disneystore.com is has been offering the Vinylmation version of a box of chocolates.
