Snack Series: Contempo Cafe Red Velvet Cupcake

One of our favorite counter-service joints, Contempo Cafe, has perfected another yummo cupcake that I can’t wait to tell you about!

Previously, we’ve shared our reviews of the Apple Spice, Chocoalte Peppermint, Dulce de Leche, and Black Forest cupcakes here at Contempo, and now we’ve got a version of my very favorite cake in the world — the Red Velvet cupcake!

You can find this snack in the bakery case at Contempo Cafe in Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Walt Disney World. Just bypass the ordering machines and head right to the cupcakes!

Riding side-saddle between Adventureland and Frontierland, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe — often shortened to “Pecos Bill’s” is the place to sit for a spell (and chow down) with your posse!

From burgers to taco salads, there’s a little something for everyone here, which makes it a guest-favorite for counter-service in the Magic Kingdom!

Atmosphere

Because guests can see the restaurant from Adventureland and Frontierland, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe looks like an old West saloon from the outside in Frontierland but has a more Caribbean appearance on the Adventureland side.

Inside, you’ll find dark woods and decor you’d expect in booming mining towns of the West. If you keep moving toward the Adventureland side of the restaurant, though, you’ll run into slightly more Caribbean decor — cobblestones, blooming flowers, and warmer stone walls. This runs opens into Tortuga Tavern next door!

But back to the old West, if you take a peek at the walls, you’ll find the story behind Pecos Bill’s (every Disney destination has a story!).

Food Ingredient Lists at the Beach Club Marketplace!

Eating in Disney World with a special diet just got a little easier!

I was at Walt Disney World last weekend participating in the marathon festivities. I completed the 1/2 marathon, my first distance race ever. Whoooooot!

We stayed at the Beach Club resort. As a little post race reward, I stopped in at the Marketplace for something sweet. It’s OK to carbo load after the race too, right? 🙂 While checking out the offerings in the bakery case, I noticed a little booklet hanging on a hook attached to the case.

This turned out to be a collection of laminated cards listing the ingredients found in every Disney-baked item in the store, both those in the regular bakery case and those in the refrigerator case.

Last month, Target had a display of adorable Mickey and Friends Holiday kitchenware by Zak designs.

What I like most about these is that they’re some of the first Disney-themed kitchenware that’s perfect for Disney fans of all ages. House of Cards Nightclub Coming to Disney California Adventure

OK, all of you ElecTRONica fans, it’s time to switch your loyalties!

Coming in Summer 2012 is the brand new Mad T Party craziness — an Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton style) themed rave of live music, dancing, cocktails, and eats at the Disney California Adventure Hollywood Pictures Backlot. This new party replaces ElecTRONica, and will be the new time-filler before guests file over into World of Color.

Guest Review: Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Today, we welcome Heather Jones with a guest review of one of our favorite Walt Disney World spots — Beaches and Cream!

On our last visit to Walt Disney World, my family and I had the pleasure of spending a night at the Beach Club Resort. One of the things I was most excited about was finally getting a chance to eat at Beaches and Cream.

I had heard so much about the place, from their great burgers to the unbelievable Kitchen Sink, I couldn’t wait to try it out!

Beaches and Cream is located where the Beach Club and its sister resort, the Yacht Club, meet; and the restaurant looks out to the Stormalong Bay pool complex.

They don’t take reservations at Beaches and Cream, and I had heard that it could get really crowded at peak mealtimes; so we decided to head over in the middle of the afternoon to avoid the lunch rush.
