EPCOT Festival of the Holidays

Happy Holidays from Disney Food Blog!

To me, this time of year is all about seeing and spending time with family, and that includes my awesomely cool parents — now apparently known to many readers as “AJ’s Mom and AJ’s Dad” (yes, they actually have t-shirts that say that). 😉

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a couple of videos that were shot by my Dad on my parents’ trip to Disney World over the Thanksgiving holiday. Check out these fantastic close-ups of the gingerbread and holiday displays at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort! (While the Yacht Club display isn’t gingerbread, there are several signs that remind us of the yummy restaurants at the resort — and that works for me!)

Walt Disney World New Year’s Eve Dining and Special Events

Ringing in New Year 2012 from Walt Disney World? It’s going to be a memorable night! Call 407-WDW-DINE for holiday dining information and reservations! Here are some of your options for dining on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day:

Disney Resorts and Event Spaces

Boardwalk

Atlantic Dance Hall
Dance into the New Year at Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s BoardWalk
8 p.m. to 2 a.m., ages 21 and up.

Video DJ Tony Zapulla will play hits on the main dance floor. Beverages will be for sale from three different bars. There will be limited viewing of Epcot’s fireworks.

$37 (gratuity not included) for access to the main floor of the Dance Hall.
$80 for a VIP ticket that allows guests entrance to a private 2nd floor area with guaranteed seating and access to a private upstairs balcony for “limited” viewing of the fireworks. In addition, you’ll be able to indulge at a Dessert Station and private VIP bar. Cocktail service will also be offered.

Dress Attire: Business Casual or Formal

Parking:
Parking passes for the self parking lot will be given with advance purchases. Parking not guaranteed to be available for same day purchase.

Chef Mickey’s (New Year’s Day brunch)
California Grill will host an evening of elegance!

2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Will Feature a New runDisney Race!

Fun news from runDisney today!! The Wine and Dine Half-Marathon that we’ve all grown to know and love has been moved! That’s right, it will now be taking place at the end of the festival — November 9-10!

In its place is a brand new 10-mile race under the moniker of the Tower of Terror 10-Miler! This race will take place on September 29, 2012, and will feature a course through Hollywood Studios. A private afterparty will follow this race as well!

Like all runDisney events, the race weekend will feature a variety of events, including a 5K, kids’ races, and a Health & Fitness Expo. You can register for the Tower 10-Miler on February 14th!

Christmas Treats and Holiday Popcorn in Disney Parks and Resorts

I love this Mickey Gingerbread Cookie! It was just spicy enough and had a very chewy texture. I was glad to have the sweetness of the chocolate along with it.

Christmas in Disneyland: Santa’s Cabin & Storytellers Cafe Gingerbread House

There are two awesome holiday experiences in Disneyland Resort that are not to be missed this year. Nope, I’m not talking about the homemade candy canes or the yule log (though both of those are definitely not-to-be-missed!), I’m talking about visiting Santa’s Cabin at Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland and visiting the gingerbread house at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Resort!

Every year my family visits Santa at his Disneyland home away from the North Pole.  His lovely cabin in Big Thunder Ranch is the perfect escape from the harsh winter back home. He even brings along Mrs. Claus and his reindeer too!

News!: Pot Roast Sandwich and Seasonal Kiosks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has some new treats in store for those traveling to Walt Disney World in the next few weeks, according to Studios Central!

A Pot Roast Sandwich is debuting at Studio Catering Company this week! It looks pretty good, but I can’t wait to hear some reviews from you guys!

New Food Kiosks and Menu Items Added

Just like last year, an Italian food kiosk is being added to the area near Muppet Vision 3D.

This temporary dining spot is being added due to the crowds expected this holiday season, and will serve Italian favorites like Penne Pasta with Tomato Sauce for $7, Penne Pasta with Tomato Sauce and Meatballs for $9, and Minestrone Soup for $3.50 (also a Disney Dining Plan snack credit).

Snow White and the Seven Cookies

I took a detour into Williams Sonoma this morning during what I sincerely hope was my last pilgrimage into a mall in 2011. Boy am I glad I did.

You see, my daughters have been in serious Snow White worship mode for a while now. To spare my husband’s dignity, I am not posting the photos from this Halloween where the neighbor girls (including my daughter Josie) were the dwarves, my daughter Louisa was Snow herself, and hubby Jeff was, you guessed it, the evil queen. But I digress …

So you can imagine how thrilled I was to see that Williams Sonoma is carrying a line of Snow White themed bakeware.

The line includes a cupcake decorating kit, cookie cutters (unfortunately only 4 of the characters are represented here), a cakelet baking pan (with all dwarves accounted for), a spatula with the flipper part as Snow’s face, a pink child-sized apron with an embroidered Snow White as well as generic pink princess apron.

Fun news for you today! Todd English’s bluezoo now has an interactive, electronic bar menu!

Courtesy of our good friend (and Disney World aficionado) Lori Wagner, we’ve got some great photos of the exciting new addition to this Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort restaurant with AAA Four Diamond acclaim.

bluezoo has long been known for its bar. Its unique and inventive cocktails have kept guests coming back for years! Now they’ve added another reason to visit — a cool new interactive menu! The menu is attached to the bar table, so guests can easily browse through and make their choices.

The interactive menu is much like the ones you’ll see at several of the counter-service locations in Disney’s theme parks. You’ll start out choosing a category — Bar snacks, wine, cocktails, or beer.
