Dining in Disneyland: Snacks and More in Disneyland Paris

Heather Sievers, our Dining in Disneyland columnist, shares her recent adventure to Disneyland Paris with a whole slew-o-pics of food in the park!

This summer has been absolutely amazing. I’ve been on the go for 3 weeks all over Europe, which included an 11-day Disney Mediterranean Cruise followed by 3 days in London and 3 days in Paris. I begged and pleaded for a trip to Disneyland Paris and guess what? I got my way!

My cruise dining photos are amazing, over 1,000 of them if you can believe it, but I just couldn’t wait to share some super fun pics of the snacks and special treats that we found in Disneyland Paris.

Only there for one short day, we really made the most of it. We spent half of the day at Walt Disney Studios and the latter half at Disneyland. Both parks were beautiful as well as FULL of amazingly yummy snacks. Unfortunately, while I did not try most of them, I did drool over the sights and smells. Enjoy!

Disney World Free Dining Rumored for Fall 2011 and Possibly 2012

UPDATE: Rumors confirmed! Free Dining is now available for select dates October 2, 2011-March 31, 2012. See Details Here!

Rumors are swirling that the Disney World Free Dining promotion will be back this Fall and extend possibly into 2012. Booking is rumored to begin August 3rd.

As regular readers know, we usually don’t publish rumors without credible sources, so please understand that this is not corroborated by the Walt Disney Company in any way at the moment, and it is truly just a rumor currently.

The Free Dining promotion offers guests booking a vacation package the opportunity to add a Disney Dining Plan on to their package for free as long as they’re booking their room and tickets at standard rack rates.

Disney World Free Dining is already available through September, but should this rumor come to fruition, new dates would start up on October 2nd and include:

October 2, 2011 – October 8, 2011
October 23, 2011 – November 5, 2011
November 13, 2011 – November 19, 2011
November 27, 2011 – December 3, 2011
December 11, 2011 – December 17, 2011

New Kevin Kidney Designs Celebrate WDW’s 40th!

Popular Disney artists Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily bring their brilliant designs to Walt Disney World’s 40th anniversary party!

After receiving an invite to create nostalgic concepts for WDW’s souvenir collectibles, the artists set to work. Inspired by vintage Walt Disney World — yes, including 70’s orange and lime green — their submissions included attraction replicas, scale models, and retro Tiki mugs.

For the final designs, Kevin and Jody collaborated with Disney artist Linda Flynn from Disney’s Design Group and merchandise team. We’re excited to announce that some food-related designs made the cut!

Raglan Road Celebrates “Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day” on September 17th

As many of you know, we had an AWESOME time at Raglan Road on St. Patrick’s Day this year, and I’m excited to announce that you don’t have to wait ’til March to experience it yourself!

Mark your calendars for the halfway point to St. Patrick’s Day! Raglan Road is throwing a party to celebrate in true Irish form with live entertainment, Irish dancing, fun competitions and great giveaways. Why wait till March to put your green on?

Review: Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge

Despite its name, the Whispering Canyon Cafe is a rowdy restaurant that encourages diners to sing, ride hobby horses (if you’re a grown-up, you only have to do this if you’re naughty), and laugh-out-loud throughout the meal.

Fitting the Wilderness Lodge location in Disney World, Whispering Canyon Cafe servers are in “old West” character, and this place is definitely casual to say the least!

Atmosphere

To say it bluntly, Whispering Canyon Cafe will make you feel like a kid again!

Cowboys and Indians decorate the backs of the wooden chairs, whimsical tee-pee light fixtures hang from the ceiling, kids can play with Lincoln Logs while waiting for a seat, and the noise factor will definitely remind you of your junior high lunchroom (maybe not a good thing, but pretty much the truth!).

The servers here are special as well. There are a few Disney World restaurants where servers are part of the entertainment, and Whispering Canyon Cafe is one of them!

With funny “stage” names and devil-may-care attitudes, they’re usually a fun addition to an already fun dining experience. (As always, if you’d rather keep your meal low-key, just let the cast member at the podium as well as your server know that you’d rather not participate in the antics — this usually works.)

The 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival was AWESOME! Be sure to check out all of our Epcot Food and Wine Festival Pages for the reviews and details from 2011 (many of which will repeat in 2012!). But it’s always fun to start planning for next year!

Luckily, Stitch Kingdom spotted and passed on the info that the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival will be taking place from September 28-November 11, 2012! As always, that opening date is the last Friday in September, so if you’ve been making plans to visit the same week every year, you’re A-OK to plan next year as well!

Also, our guess is that if a 2012 Wine & Dine Half-Marathon happens, it will be on September 29th, the first Saturday of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.

“Learning to Cook” on Disneyland’s Main Street

Last year I was enchanted by this Disneyland Main Street window vignette of Ratatouille, and I just came across some pictures that I wanted to share with you.

I’ve always been a fan of miniatures, and seeing teeny-tiny, intricately detailed replicas of regular kitchen items in this vignette had me staring for at least 30 minutes at the scene trying to take it all in.
