Disney Cruise Review: Mojito Seminar Aboard the Disney Magic

Our Dining in Disneyland columnist, Heather Sievers, is morphing into a Cruise columnist today! Check out this awesome Mojito Seminar!!

Looking for a fun and inexpensive way to get in some adult beverage time on your Disney Cruise? Go to a drink seminar! On our recent 11-day Mediterranean cruise we learned that there is no need to pay $10 for 1 mojito when you can pay $15 for four or more!

Being our third Disney Cruise, you’d think we would have heard about these special seminars, but, alas we had not…until our lovely concierge, Lynda, asked us if we liked mojitos. Sure, we’ll check that out! Here’s how it works: Sign up, show up, drink up.

The seminars take place during the day in one of the ship’s restaurants. Ours was in Animator’s Palate.

There were probably about 30-40 people in the seminar. The event was set up with about 4 tables with 8-10 chairs each, which all faced our “instructor.”

Disney Food Blog D23 Expo Meet-Up

Since the food options at the Expo might not be the greatest, we’ve decided to hang out at Trader Sam’s in Disneyland Hotel from 2:30-3:30pm on Saturday August 20, 2011!

Mickey-Shaped Pretzels Spotted in Disney World!

Big news for Mickey foodie fans! The pretzels that we are so fond of in Disneyland Park are now being served in Walt Disney World, we hear!!

Mickey-shaped soft pretzels were recently spotted in the Magic Kingdom. And that makes my foodie heart go pitter patter! 😉

Snack Series: Walt Disney World Jumps on the Cake Pop Bandwagon

Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster takes an in-depth look at the trendy Cake Pop infiltration of Walt Disney World.

The new addition to the world of Mickey-shaped sweet treats is the cake pop. In case you’ve missed out on this relatively new foodie trend, cake pops are small treats composed of cake and frosting mashed up to form a sort of cake paste, then formed into a ball or circle, and served on a stick.

The cake is almost always dipped into a chocolate or candy coating and often amusingly decorated. You can find do-it-yourself cake pop recipes here.

Intro to Cake Pops in Disney World

On a recent trip to Walt Disney World, I found cake pops sold at the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Confectionery, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Sweet Spells, and at Downtown Disney’s Goofy’s Candy Company and Candy Cauldron.

Disney’s Aulani Resort Restaurant Menus

Disney’s newest resort, Aulani, opens very soon in Ko Olina, Oahu, Hawaii, and offers restaurants that emphasize local flavors with cuisine from around the world. They’ve posted the menus for several of the table-service restaurants, so let’s check out what we’re going to eat on our (probably fictional) trip to Oahu!

The ocean breeze will be spirit-soothing at this beach side restaurant specializing in fresh, local seafood. The menu includes vegetarian items and desserts made fresh each day.

At breakfast, choose from island-inspired dishes including a Three Egg Omelet served with Aulani Potatoes; Seared Island Fish, Tamago, Mixed Greens, Miso Soup, Steamed Rice, Dried Seaweed, and Pickled Vegetables; or the Sweet Potato and Portuguese Sausage Hash with Poached Eggs and Marinated Hearts of Palm.
