Hello again! Chef BigFatPanda here with a truly wonderful, easy to make recipe.

I don’t consider myself a pastry or dessert expert by a long shot, but after making this little gem, I certainly want to aim for it. By this time next year, I likely will have posted enough Disney sweets that I will be more comfortable with these delectables.

So, coming off of a less than stellar Chili recipe a few weeks ago, I am so glad I opted for this next adventure. Today, I am presenting you with a Peach Cobbler from Chef Mickey’s Village Restaurant at the Disney Village Marketplace.

But Chef Mickey’s is at the Contemporary! you may exclaim. Some history is in order here:
I believe that when the Village Marketplace first opened or was renamed in the 80’s, the restaurant we now know as the Rainforest Café was the Disney Village Restaurant. Food Pics of the Week: Vinylmation Hopes

I started seeing some incredible foodie vinylmation designs showing up in the Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza, so I asked where I could buy them! The artist, Richard Page, mentioned that they were from a series he’s pitching to Disney, so they’re not guaranteed to EVER exist, but my fingers are crossed! I wanted to share them with you to see what you think!

Food Photography Tips and Tricks

Disney Food Blog contributor Megan Dorsey offered a few food photography tips she’d learned from taking pics on a recent trip, and I thought it’d be fun to compile a few more from some photographer friends and me! More and more folks are starting to join the weird crowd of us who take photos of everything we eat, so tips and tricks are always fun to share!

The following tips are compiled from Megan, Anna G. who writes Cookie Madness, Joe S. from Culinary in the Country, my Dad (a professional photographer), and me!:

1. Play around with camera angles: While taking photos directly above the plate looking down works well for many entrees and shows the whole plate, some foods are more impressive when seen from the side. Experiment with different angles (makes it harder to keep us, the kids, and the other table stuff out of some shots.)

2. Try to clear away the rest of the table clutter from the shot. (Hard with two kids.)

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Preview Pictures: World Showcase Booths are Up

We’re counting down to the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival here on the Disney Food Blog, and I was VERY lucky to receive two sets of photos yesterday of the World Showcase International Marketplace booths! They’ve been placed around the promenade all ready to get spiffed up for the upcoming 45-day event, which begins October 1st. The pics came from the fantastic Mr. Todd Perlmutter, and Mr. Bill Iadonisi, who I hope you’ll be seeing around here more often as a guest restaurant reviewer!

These are the booths where guests will be able to purchase small portions of regional cuisine, so you’ll see that the booths are shaped and themed to fit the country or region they represent!

Many of the signs are remainders from last year’s focus on major cities, but the presence of the Mouse Catch booth — which isn’t listed on the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Map — makes me think they’ll be changing out signage a bit in the coming weeks. Atmosphere and Eats

It’s finally starting to cool off in Florida, so walking around the parks was very pleasant. It was also very quiet, so I was able to walk on almost every ride. Gotta love college football season in Florida! I headed over to Epcot to try out the newly opened quick service restaurant at the Mexico Pavilion — La Cantina de San Angel.

AJ’s been keeping all of you well informed on the happenings surrounding the restaurant, so I thought I would take to the field and try it out myself! The entree menu is simple but I think most people could find something to enjoy. New Disney California Adventure Paradise Pier Dining Concept Art

The OC Register is reporting on the up coming changes to Disney California Adventure’s Paradise Pier. Here’s a bit of concept art for what the Pier will look like come next year…

Gone are Pizza Oom Mow Mow and the Burger Invasion restaurant, which will soon be replaced by an 800-seat dining area — part of the $1-billion renovation project at Disney California Adventure.

When it opens next year, the area will include:

* Paradise Garden Grill, in the former space of Burger Invasion.
* Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, where Pizza Oom Mow Mow used to be.
* Corn Dog Castle, which closed last year, will re-open in the same spot.

A Beer Garden is not part of the plans at this time.

Disney Food Post Round-Up: September 19, 2010

Ladies and Gents, my next round-up will be coming to you from Walt Disney World! Very exciting, but right now, let’s talk about the great — and not-so-great — Disney food news from this week:

A price increase is anticipated on Disney World buffets starting October 3rd.
La Hacienda de San Angel is open for walk-up guests, as is La Cantina de San Angel. See a report from the Grand Opening this week, and check out the La Hacienda de San Angel menu and La Cantina de San Angel menu. Reservations are being taken for dates after October 15th.
Disney has made it easier to make dining reservations on your smartphone!
Disney Online is teaming up Cat Cora and the Muppets for some online shows about food and recipes!

Also, we got word from DFB reader Lori Kiehl that ‘Ohana might be closed during breakfast from 17-20 of January. No official word on that, but FYI.

WDW Magic reports that Bongos Cuban Cafe has been added to the Disney Dining Reservations System.

The Givens Chronicles is counting down to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival by making recipes from the 2009 festival! Here’s her rendition of New Zealand’s Lamb Sliders!

Disney Dispatch is also counting down to the Festival with a look at Argentina.

WDW Info reports that Chef Mickey is no longer table-side at Chef Mickey’s in WDW’s Contemporary Resort. According to user reports, he’s up front taking pics now rather than visiting table-side.

Price Increase Possible on Disney World Buffets

UPDATE:

DFB contributor Sarah Holodick recently received confirmation on the price increase from an in-the-know cast member friend. Here are the details she received: “The higher pricing will affect ALL buffets property-wide for dinner only. Cinderella’s Royal Table will have price increases for breakfast, lunch and dinner.” Thanks Sarah!

We’ve been chatting a lot about prices around here lately, and here’s another piece of info to toss around.

We’ve got a credible rumor that as of October 3, the regular price of Disney’s dinner buffets will bump up to $36.99, and the seasonal pricing (usually in effect during high traffic times like Summer, Thanksgiving, Spring Break, and Christmas) will be raised to $40.99.

No details on which restaurants will be included and excluded, and those of you on free dining and the Disney Dining Plan don’t have to worry a lick, but this could make a difference for large groups traveling without the Dining Plan.

Still rumor status until it’s announced by Disney, as always. Hopefully more info later.

Review: Disneyland’s Napa Rose

As promised in the August Disney Food Blog Newsletter, here’s our review of premier Disneyland restaurant, Napa Rose!

Napa Rose is the top brass when it comes to dining in Disneyland. The restaurant, presided over by decorated Chef Andrew Sutton, is located in the woodsy Grand California Resort located in the middle of Disneyland’s Downtown Disney district.

Atmosphere
The style of the restaurant is similar to that of the Grand Californian — warm, muted tones fill out the craftsman style, with light woods and an open floor plan. The massive windows look out onto a lovely patio and wooded area, so the feeling of seclusion compliments the openness of the restaurant itself.
