In addition to the World of Color Dining Packages and Picnic Meals, guests will also get to experience edible color in other ways!

Spectrum Splash: Beverages in light-up souvenir glasses with a colorful choice of flavors –- strawberry red, blueberry blue, or sour Granny Smith apple green.

Multi-Colored & Flavored Popcorn: A delicious treat that comes in three flavors – red cherry, blueberry and purple grape – and mixed in with regular kettle corn, all served in a Disney California Adventure see-through “World of Color” souvenir popcorn bucket.

Tropical Mist Cocktail (for adults): It’s a passion fruit and mango liqueur with coconut rum – and a light-up swizzle stick. Available at the Cove Bar and Ariel’s Grotto restaurant.

Kouzzina for Breakfast

I recently had the chance to dine at Kouzzina — Iron Chef Cat Cora’s signature restaurant on the Disney World Boardwalk — for breakfast! I had only had dinner at Kouzzina previously, so I couldn’t wait to see what Chef Dee Foundoukis was cooking up for breakfast. 🙂 Luckily, this was part of the Disney World Five Stars to Mickey Bars event, so I got to take pics of my dining companions’ food as well! Score!

Atmosphere

Kouzzina is reminiscent of its predecessor, Spoodles, in that the expanse, high ceilings, and heavy wood decor tend to feel like a big old Mediterranean farm kitchen; but Kouzzina brought a new elegance and simple formality along with the renovation. The restaurant opened in September 2009, and I showcased several photos of the lobby, dining room, and open kitchen in my Kouzzina dinner review.

For breakfast, the restaurant was lit with sun streaming through the floor to ceiling windows and pleasant white noise came consistently from the open kitchen.

One thing I haven’t been able to master is staying on a specialized diet plan in Disney World. Luckily, I have a few friends who

World of Color Picnic Option Announced

What a cool bit of news! In addition to the World of Color Table-Service Dining Packages, Disneyland Resort has also released info on World of Color Picnic Meals! June 10th Update: To book online, follow our World of Color Picnic booking primer.

World of Color Picnic Meals Details

Beginning June 11th, boxed picnic meals will be available online at Disneyland.com or by walk-up purchase at the Sonoma Terrace at Golden Vine Winery in Disney’s California Adventure. Note: Picnic Meals are NOT available to order through the Disneyland Dining Phone Line. Here are a few details:

Picnic meal options include four selections for adults: “The All American” (cold honey-stung fried chicken), “The Taste of Asia” (chilled miso-glazed salmon), “The European Antipasto” (cured meats, regional cheeses, artichoke heart, sun-dried tomato) and “The Mediterranean Vegetarian” (marinated grilled vegetables in a whole wheat wrap with roasted garlic hummus). Kids’ options for chidren ages 3-9 include “The Junior All American” (chicken), “The Lunchbox Classic” (peanut butter and jelly) and “The Little Squirt’s Box” (apple wedges, string cheese).
Online orders may be placed up to 60 days in advance but may not be placed on the same day as redemption. Orders may be picked up at the Sonoma Terrace from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Subject to availability, guests who order Picnic meals online will be assigned to the evening’s first show, and guests who make a walk-up purchase will be assigned to that evening’s second show.
All picnic meals with “World of Color” Reserved Viewing are priced at $14.99 and must be redeemed for the designated reserved show date and time. No refunds, exchanges or other discounts.
Each guest entering the reserved viewing area must have reserved viewing area admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Guests may only enter the viewing area during designated times and no early or late admission will be allowed. Guests in large parties may not be guaranteed admission within the same reserved viewing area. Separate theme park admission is required.

Don’t forget, if a picnic doesn’t float your boat, you can also book table-service, reserved viewing meals at Ariel’s Grotto and Wine Country Trattoria.

News: Pricing Released for New Epcot Food and Wine Festival Events

We recently mentioned the addition of a couple of new events to the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, and pricing for two of the most interesting has just been announced:

Delicious Discoveries First Bites

This event will offer Food and Wine fanatics (like you and me!) a first look at the Festival’s seminars, highlights, food, wine, and possibly even a few celebrities!
When: September 30th
Price: $195 per person, plus tax and theme park admission

3D Disney’s Dessert Discovery

This special dessert party will offer guests the chance to see Illuminations from a private location.
When: Every Friday during the Festival (note: Disney previously stated that this was every Thursday during the Festival, but the latest word is that it will take place on Fridays.)
Price: $45 per person, plus park admission

The Five Best Things I Ate In Disneyland

So, as my twitter and facebook friends know, I am embarking on a series of posts with the working title, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate at Disney.” (What? I love the Food Network!) I’ll be including in the series a bunch of suggestions from readers and friends about delicious, not-to-be-missed Disney foods, so stay tuned for those posts.

But I thought it’d be fun to start off the series with my own picks for the five best things I ate on my recent trip to Disneyland! I’ll be reviewing each of these restaurants separately as well — but here are the dishes that really knocked my socks off while in the “west coast office.”

#1. Pommes Frites: Cafe Orleans, Disneyland

I’m pretty sure my husband and I both dream about these at night. Think about the best french fries you’ve ever eaten, and then make them about 50 times better, and then you might come close to imagining the Pommes Frites at Cafe Orleans. According to the official Disneyland Cafe Orleans menu: Traditional French Fried Potatoes tossed with Parmesan, Garlic, and Parsley served with Cajun Spice Remoulade. The amazing part? They cost $5.

Restaurant Marrakesh Review

I took the opportunity to do a wine pairing dinner at Restaurant Marrakesh during the 2009 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, which was a nice introduction. We decided to give it a try for a full meal on a recent visit.

Updates to Animal Kingdom Picnic in the Park

September 2012 Update:

Picnic in the Park in its original format stopped being offered in 2010. After, a grab-and-go option was offered from Beastly Bazaar in Discovery Island. The Grab and Go meal came with a reusable bag. Meal choices for two ($17.99), three ($24.99) or four ($32.99) persons. Meals included: choice of sandwiches, chips, desserts, plus a bottled water. Guests with the Disney Dining Plan could use quick-service credits.

Beastly Bazaar closed in August 2012. Therefore, we are unsure if the grab and go picnic option was moved to another merchandise location. Stay tuned for more information.

Hey all! Thanks to reader Nancy Toby, we’ve got updates to the Picnic in the Park situation:

Currently, Picnic in the Park is available to anyone via a grab-and-go area in the Beastly Bazaar in Discovery Island.

According to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel, “guests may purchase a picnic for a group of 2, 4, or 6 people and select a non-alcoholic beverage, a choice of sandwich, chips, and dessert. The sandwich choices include Turkey Focaccia; Ham and Salami on Ciabatta; Tuna on Pita; Vegetarian Wrap; and Chicken Caesar Wrap.”
