Welcome to the round-up this week! Some pretty cool news popped up this week — Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports is selling tickets to the Wine & Dine Half Marathon’s After-Party! Let me know if you’ll be there!

The Coolest Coke Machine You’ve Ever Seen

Microdosing technology. PurePour. RFID scanners. On-Board Computer. Wondering what I’m talking about? A Coke machine, of course. And it’s right there for you to try at Disney’s California Food & Wine Festival!

Coca-Cola has been hard at work developing a technologically superior machine that doesn’t just offer 6 choices…it offers 106 choices. You want orange Diet Coke right now? You got it. Wanna mix it with lemon or grape Fanta? Go right ahead! (Cool, right?) We stumbled across this machine when we were sampling some of the California Food & Wine Festival signature items at the Festival Center in the back of Disney’s California Adventure. I had no idea how to use it at first, but once you get up there and start pressing buttons, it’s pretty “intuitive.”

Breakfasts of Champions: Cinnamon Rolls in Disney World and Disneyland

What makes a better relaxing breakfast than a cinnamon roll? Luckily, Disney World and Disneyland have you covered — each in their own special way. Here are a couple of my favorite “breakfasts of champions” that include cinnamon roll goodness at our favorite Disney parks.

First off, we’ll start in Walt Disney World at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery:

Here, you can find one of Disney World’s most beloved treats, the Main Street Bakery cinnamon roll. You can find this monstrous pastry (seriously — it’s giant — consider sharing) at the end of the bakery line, where they’ll scoop the thing onto a plate and then — this is the best part — add another scoop of melt-y, cinnamon-y frosting on top!!! I couldn’t believe it when I first saw that. I love when Disney doesn’t short me on extravagance.

Wine and Dine Half Marathon News!

Good news! If you want to celebrate with your favorite runners after Disney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon on October 2nd, you can now purchase Wine and Dine Half Marathon after-party tickets for $35 per ticket! Just call 407-WDW-IRUN for details and to order your ticket. (They’re saying we’ll get some great after-hours access to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, too!)

Also, FYI, the Wine and Dine Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay races are now both 50% full, so get your registrations in soon!! You can also still register for the Mickey’s Halloween Family Fun Run 5K, taking place on the morning of October 2, 2010.

Snack Series: Paw Print Brownie

One of the newer snacks available in Disney World is the paw print brownie, which you can find in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Once there, head up to the Africa section of the park — tucked back into Harambe village, next to Tusker House Restaurant, you’ll find Kusafiri Bakery!

Kusafiri used to be part of the Tusker House Restaurant, but with recent renovations, it’s taken its own tiny little piece of real estate. And to create an even more significant stamp of independence, it’s developed three incredible and exclusively sold snacks: the White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake, the Zebra Cupcake (which we’ll be highlighting on the food blog in the near future), and today’s decadent snack — the Paw Print Brownie:

Disneyland’s Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port

We’re back with another Disney World and Disneyland comparison! Every Wednesday in May, Main Street Gazette and Disney Food Blog are reviewing back-to-back, mirror image foodie havens in the Florida and California parks. Whether you’re headed to the East coast or the West, we’ve got your Disney Food needs covered!

Today, I’ll be checking out Disneyland’s Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port, and Main Street Gazette will be taking a look at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Pizza Planet.

Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port is a counter-service location in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, offering pizza by the pie or slice, salads, and pasta dishes. Built in the space previously inhabited by Flight to the Moon and Mission to Mars, the restaurant carries a space port theme and provides a great spot to grab a bite after numerous flights on Space Mountain.

Flame Tree Barbecue: Lunch With a View

Flame Tree Barbecue has long been a favorite counter-service location in the Animal Kingdom Theme Park for Disney World guests.

Flame Tree not only offers incredible value and an interesting atmosphere, it also has one of the best views in Disney World!

Found in Animal Kingdom Theme Park’s Discovery Island section, right next to the entrance to Dinoland, you’ll find a long, flat, open-design building that usually has several lines of Disney guests sticking out of it and snaking back to the main thoroughfare.

Cookes of Dublin and the “Unique Doh-Bar”

Here’s one of those Disney World gems that you don’t even know is there. You stumble across it on your way to the movie theater, or to the Lego store, or to World of Disney. It’s not in your dining plans, because you didn’t know it existed, but you’re hungry, so you’ll take a second to see what they’ve got on the menu…

Well, let me just say that Cookes of Dublin has quite a menu. It’s chock full of your favorite stereotypical Irish cuisine — hand-battered daily fish selections, fresh chips (fries), beef and lamb pie, crushed peas, and Irish sausages — but they also cook up some interesting extras, like chicken wings in Whiskey and crushed pepper glaze, “skinny” chips with curry dip, Atlantic sea scallops, and even a hand-battered beef burger.

Chip and Co has a review of Citricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
