Guest Review: Captain’s Grille

I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a scrumptious and low-key breakfast at the Captain’s Grille (formerly Yacht Club Galley) at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. A wonderful option exists at the Captain’s Grille for those looking for a sit down meal with a great variety in breakfast offerings! This restaurant is an undiscovered gem. At the height of breakfast the restaurant had numerous open tables, compared to the bursting at the seams Cape May Café at the sister Beach Club resort.

Atmosphere
The Captain’s Grille is right off the lobby of the Yacht Club. The décor is consistent with the resort lobby, but uses lighter woods and an open floor plan. Tables are bordered with semaphore flag details like one might see on [Read more…]

Tables in Wonderland Membership Card

Great news! Disney World’s Tables in Wonderland discount program has added four next restaurants to the list of participating locations!

Big River Grille & Brewing Works at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort; Bongo’s Cuban Cafe at Downtown Disney West Side; Paradiso 37 at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island; and Via Napoli in Epcot’s World Showcase are newly accepting the Tables in Wonderland discount card!

Blue Sky Wine

Once again, Disneyland pulls through with another themeing creation that brings me back to “original” Disney Parks perfection.

With puns like this, you’ll think you’re in line for Muppets 3D, but, in fact, you’re in Disney California Adventure’s Blue Sky Cellar, formerly the Golden Vine Winery — Seasons of the Vine. This location is now themed to represent an old winery that the Disneyland Imagineers have taken over as an impromptu office. Guests are free to roam about, sneaking peeks at models and blueprints for upcoming attractions, taking video screen quizzes, watching a film about the upcoming changes to Disney California Adventure, etc.

To your left as you walk in you’ll see a big sign — labeled “reference center” — draped over a full wall of “resting” wine barrels. Video screens that offer fun quizzes and trivia are set within some of the wine barrels, but the others seem pretty plain. Until you look more closely. [Read more…]

Review: Citricos

It’s “discreet;” that’s why you didn’t hear about Citricos until you’d been going to Disney World for years. At least, that was my story! When I finally found this restaurant, I knew I’d stumbled onto a gem.

Atmosphere
Located in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, tucked up into the corner between Mizner’s Lounge and Victoria & Albert’s, Citricos looks like a giant living room. In fact, you might mistake it for a seating/lounge area for Victoria & Albert’s until you realize that there is actually a kitchen back there!

The long, open style of the restaurant and big, cushy chairs really do scream “comfy living area” vs. “hoity toity restaurant,” so you definitely know you’ll be at ease. Finally! Booking information for the low-cost seminars and demonstrations at the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival are available.

Registration begins Wednesday, August 25, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern for Disney Vacation Club members, Tables in Wonderland members, and Annual Passholders. Discounted prices apply.

Registration begins Friday, August 27, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern for the general public.

Chef Mickey’s Limited Edition Character Lunch Information

More Chef Mickey’s availability has just opened up! From now though August 28th, and September 19th-October 2nd, you can book Chef Mickey’s for lunch from 12:30pm-2:30pm.

Cost is $28.75 for adults and $15.97 for kids ages 3-9. Kids under 3 eat free.

If there’s one thing you know about me by now, it’s that I love Disney cupcakes. I want to try every kind of Disney cupcake ever made and document the process for you, but I realized something very interesting recently.

Rose and Crown Review

I have a love/hate relationship with Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room, and I’m currently in love. Blissful, British-y love.

Atmosphere
This tidy little pub and dining room set on prime World Showcase Lagoon real estate really does approximate a pub you’d find in the UK today. Although I’m not sure they have pub quizzes…which they should have. Does anyone know if the Rose and Crown has pub quizzes?
