Okay, so we love Disney World snacks, and yes, we do love them even better when they’re fried.
Fried corndog nuggets? Yes, please! Fried pickles? We want more! Funnel cakes? Give us ALL the fried dough. Speaking of fried dough, though, we had a new Disney World snack today that made us question the whole fried dough situation…
Over at Pinocchio’s Village Haus in Magic Kingdom, you can now get Malasadas. In case you don’t know what that is, a Malasada is a Portuguese fried donut made with flat rounds of yeasty dough. So sort of like flat donut holes. Disney’s version features the flavors of Hawaii and is served with a mango-coconut sauce and comes with a white chocolate “Aloha” coin.
We didn’t think you could go wrong with fried dough, but what we got was dense, tough, and not as warm as we thought it should be. We expected light and fluffy, these are NOT THAT. In fact, we had to do a LOT of chewing just to get that fried dough down. We’re not sure if it was because we waited a little bit to take photos before eating these, but they even seemed a little cold when we first got them.
However, the sauce was thin, buttery, and super tasty. The coconut flavor is mild — you can taste way more mango here, but it gives it a nice tanginess.
If you’d like to try the Malasadas for yourself, they’re available for $6.19.
We have had a love/hate relationship with Pinocchio’s in the past. Sometimes their new eats are on point, and other times we are just left disappointed. Sadly, this was one of the disappointed times. We could have gotten a bad batch because the idea and flavors truly are there. Ours just wasn’t fresh enough to be enjoyable, unfortunately.
We’ll keep trying ALL the new snacks that arrive in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews!

Hi AJ, just an FYI, it’s Malasadas not Masaladas. I’m in Hawaii and they are yummy. So sad these didn’t live up to it.

Malasadas are only good when warm and fresh. I have had them in Hawaii, not good when they get cold.
