A new restaurant is NOW OPEN in EPCOT’s Japan pavilion: Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya is a table-service restaurant presenting, according to Disney, a “festive dining experience in a sharable Izakaya-style.”
The menu features “Japanese delights” such as sushi and teppan items, plus an open sushi bar and grill. Sushi fans can enjoy the Kobore Sushi, Tokyo Negi Roll, and Funamori. Not only that, but you’ll be able to enjoy Japanese Izakaya, a type of casual pub-style restaurant that puts an emphasis on drinks and conversations with friends.
Izakaya menus typically feature small dishes, and that is the case at Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya, too. Karaage Chicken, Salmon Misoyaki, and Tomato Salad with Avocado are among the Izakaya (sharable) plates. At the open sushi bar, you’ll find highlights like the Kobore Sushi, the Tokyo Negi Roll, a Monster Roll and the Funamori (sushi boat with a presentation of sashimi and sushi).
That said, the change from season to season brings a brand new celebration of Japanese food and culture, and changing menu items will represent a different Japanese seasonal festival! There will be a new celebration that you can enjoy from your table, “from hanging tanzaku to celebrate Tanabata in July to savoring moon-viewing dumplings in September.” During the meal, a cultural representative will guide you through the experience.
The restaurant is located in the Japan Pavilion, on the second floor — above the Mitsukoshi Department Store (in the location of the former Tokyo Dining restaurant), providing views of World Showcase and — when the timing is right — fireworks!
