We’re back with another 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival booth review today with pictures from two more favorite spots: Mexico and Germany!

Mexico

This crowd favorite had some big menu changes in 2011 – and came out a winner! Many of the items from last year are back for 2012, and there are a couple of nice additions that I loved. Let’s take a look!

With the popularity of Mexico’s La Cava del Tequila, we’re seeing the first introduction of tequila shots at the Food and Wine Festival (score!).

And while the Tequila Flight, featuring Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo Tequilas is a bit pricey, it’s a great presentation and a fun way to compare different tequilas alongside terrific eats! This was a winner for me!

I absolutely loved the ribeye taco last year, and this year’s Taco de Filete, featuring beef tenderloin and a medium-spicy Cascabel Pepper Sauce does not disappoint. The wilted scallion provides a nice punch of color and taste as well.

I was super excited when I found out that Canada would be offering one of my favorite Le Cellier dishes of all time – the “Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival: Festival Center and Chase VIP Lounge Photo Tour

Greetings from the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! For those of you coming to Walt Disney World over the next month and a half for the festival, here’s a quick tour of the Food and Wine Festival Center!

Festival Center - Outside View

Located in Future World (within the old Wonders of Life Pavilion – go left at MouseGear), this is where you’ll head for many of the culinary demonstrations and seminars.

You’ll also find HGTV events here, as well as some terrific Festival merchandise.

Let’s take a little tour, shall we?

When you come down the ramps to enter the building, you’ll find helpful Cast Members at the Information Booth ready to answer all of your questions and steer you in the right direction.

This is also where you’ll find your Food and Wine Festival Passports – great for gathering stamps to commemorate your mission to eat and drink your way around the World!

The info booth is also where you’ll go to get wristbands for celebrity chef meet-and-greets and book signings. 2 signings per wristband this year!

The check-in area is where you’ll go when you’re ready to check in for any seminars or demonstrations that you’ve signed up to attend. TIP: Head to the check-in area if you don’t have a reservation for an event, but you’d like to attend. They just might have some openings!

Best of the Fest: NEW Items at the 2012 Epcot Food & Wine Festival Booths

The time has finally arrived! Today is Opening Day for the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival in Walt Disney World!

But, as many of you know, yesterday was a “soft opening” for the tasting booths in Epcot’s World Showcase…which means I GOT TO EAT STUFF!

Yep — I sampled just about every single item on the menus yesterday (yes, I’m very, very full), and I’d love to share some of my favorite NEW eats for 2012!

This is a brand new item at the festival this year, and I’ve definitely been looking forward to trying it.

A savory (and actually quite large!) pocket filled with ample amounts of spinach and paneer cheese, this vegetarian snack definitely makes the list. Get it in South Africa.

“Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce

Well, I was definitely excited when I found out the Canada Booth was going to bring the fabulous Le Cellier filet with truffle butter sauce to the festival. But I was ecstatic when it turned out to be delicious!

I mean, come on — what if they overcooked it? What if there wasn’t enough truffle butter sauce? There was so much that could go wrong.

But it didn’t. The meat was tender and flavorful (and not overcooked — hooray!). And there was…dare I say it?…ENOUGH truffle butter sauce for me. ME! (That’s saying something, since I’m the person who orders an extra side of truffle butter sauce when I’m at the restaurant.)

NEWS!: Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booth Prices, VIP Lounge, and More!

As we’re gearing up for the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival that starts this Friday, September 28th, we’ve got a few new updates for ya!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booth Prices and Disney Dining Plan Info Now Available

I’ve been hitting the pavement in Epcot to grab pics of all of the World Showcase Booth Menus and record prices for this year’s eats and drinks!

You can check out our individual booth pages to see prices for the menu items as well as information on what’s available for a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit this year!

Chase “Disney’s Visa Cardmember Lounge” Debuts in Epcot

Disney’s Visa Cardmembers will receive access to a new Chase Lounge in Epcot during the Festival!

Cardmembers and their guests can relax, enjoy a beverage, and rest up for more food and wine! Open 9am – 7pm each day of the Festival, the lounge is located on the Festival Center’s second floor. UPDATE: We’re getting word that this is open to ALL Chase cardholders, so it’s worth a shot even if you don’t have the mouse on your card.

For access, just present your Disney’s Visa Card.

New World Showcase Booth Construction Premiers

We’re always on the look-out for changes at the festival, and we’ve found some fun construction updates this year! At the World Showcase Marketplace Booths, it looks like three of our favorite spots have gotten a refurb.

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Recipe: Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey from Greece

One of the surprise hits of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival last year was the Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey from the super popular Greece Booth.

I was so glad to see that this menu item is back at the booth in 2012! (To see more photos and Food and Wine Festival menus, be sure to check out our complete list of Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booths, Menus, and Food Photos!)

A perfect combination of sweet and salty flavors, this dish also introduces interesting textures into the mix with the griddled cheese and nuts. It proved to be so popular last year that distributors had a hard time keeping up with the demand — the dish sold out several times toward the end of the festival!

If you’d like to sample this delicious option from the Greece booth, then be sure to line up early. But if you can’t make it to this year’s Festival or if they run out again, here’s a simple and yummy method for making this appetizer in the comfort of your own home!

Serves 4-6

INGREDIENTS:
2 teaspoons finely chopped pistachios (about 10 pistachios)
12 ounces kasseri cheese*
4 teaspoons honey, for garnish
