Shortly before Magic Kingdom began welcoming back guests last week after its longest closure in history, Disney released some information about construction schedules for attractions that were in-progress.
And while we suspected the temporary closure might delay some of the delivery dates of the projects Disney had planned, we’ve since learned construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run will be picked back up in stages.
Disneyland Paris has remained closed since mid-March, shutting down its theme parks and hotels right around the same time as its American counterparts.
And while April’s Star Wars Rival Run Weekend in Disney World was canceled this year due to the temporary closures, another runDisney event has been delayed.
Okay, we know there’s been a lot of information whizzing by us lately as Disney World’s theme parks are gearing up to reopen, and we’ve been doing our best to keep a good grip on the latest news as we answer all of your questions!
But we were REALLY surprised when one of our readers reached out to us with THIS intriguing bit of information!
Talk about some “pent-up demand!” As you’ll recall, due to the temporary closure, Disney World had to cancel its Star Wars Rival Run Weekend which was to take place in April this year.
And today, general registration (which was initially postponed) for the 2021 runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend opened! But faster than the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy (a.k.a. The Millenium Falcon!), all of the spots are almost ALL GONE!
Earlier today we found out the release of Disney and Pixar’s Soul had just been postponed. But that’s not the only Walt Disney Studios project being delayed!
Raya and the Last Dragon was supposed to be released on November 25th, 2020, but now it’s just been pushed all the way back to 2021!
Update! Welp, we thought this might happen! ;-D Looks like the secret was out too early, and Disney has removed the 2021 mention from their description of the poster. Alas! Will they or won’t they? You know we’ll keep you updated on all the news as we hear and see it — don’t forget to join our newsletter for the latest info.
When details about a new Moana-inspired walkthrough attraction in Epcot emerged at D23 last year, we couldn’t wait to find our way over to the Wayfinder’s new exploration trail — Journey of Water!
But in light of recent events, our concerns began to deepen as to when the new walkthrough experience would see the light of day. You see, Disney has already postponed in-park construction that was underway and there could be potential budget cuts looming over new projects.
With the recent (and crazy!) opening of Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios behind us, we can now start looking forward to all the NEW attractions coming to Disney World over the next few years.
There are a few BIG attractions on the horizon that we can’t wait to experience! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! will bring the first roller coaster to Epcot;Â and over in Magic Kingdom, we are anxiously awaiting the opening of TRON Lightcycle Run! But with each new ride opening comes the big question:
Oh, did you think all the Star Wars excitement was over now that Rise of the Resistance is finally open and the final Star Wars movie has come and gone from the theaters? Then the NEW Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (the Star Wars Hotel) must have slipped your mind!
And while just last weekend we checked in on the status of the new Star Wars hotel opening in Disney World sometime in 2021, we just found out you’ll be able to book your first voyage THIS YEAR!
We thought we’d be waiting quite a while before we’d be sitting on the back of a TRON lightcycle!
While Disney’s shared TRON’s new ride vehicles with us before (along with TRON’s Cast Members costumes) we thought we wouldn’t have the chance to saddle up before 2021, when TRON: Lightcyle Run is slated to open! But we found out today that wasn’t the case!
