Recently, Disney held its first Earnings Call of fiscal year 2022 for the Walt Disney Company, covering their Quarterly Earnings Report from their first quarter. We just learned about the growth of guest spending at Disney Parks, and here’s what you need to know.

According to the report submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (which requires the salaries to be released since Disney is a publicly traded company), in 2021 Chapek made $32.46 million, and Iger made $45.9 million. These numbers are more than double the 2020 salaries, which were $14.1 million for Chapek and $21 million for Iger. Why the huge change in salaries? Let’s take a look.

Bob Iger officially left Disney on December 31st, 2021, having stepped down from the position of CEO back in February 2020. Bob Chapek has been in the position ever since. But, before the two Bobs, there was CEO Michael Eisner, who was head of The Walt Disney Company for 21 years, from 1984 to 2005. And, Eisner was recently interviewed on CNBC, where he spoke about current CEO Bob Chapek, as well as Bob Iger.
Although it feels like Disney World is constantly changing (*cough Genie*, *cough Magical Express*, *cough Happily Ever After*), there are some things that will always be a part of the parks and resorts. Disney World relies on the magic of its parks to continue to bring in new (and old) guests. You may remember that back in 2020, Bob Chapek took over as the new CEO of the Walt Disney Company, replacing the recently retired Bob Iger. During his time as the CEO, Bob Iger played a major role in the introduction of Disney’s streaming service Disney+. Since his retirement, a new Executive Chairman at the Walt Disney Company named Susan Arnold has been named as his successor.
