The Walt Disney Company just held its Annual Meeting of Shareholders for 2024 and came out victorious in the battle for seats on the Board of Directors.

Disney CEO Bob Iger referred to the proxy battle as a “distraction” during a question-and-answer session held after the meeting, where he also gave updates on several different areas of business — including a new trailer for Inside Out 2 and a new look at the Moana sequel. And, Iger yet again commented on Disney’s “woke agenda” in movies.

Why Does Disney CEO Bob Iger Keep Using the T-Word (And What Does It MEAN?!)

If you pay attention, you can learn the Disney lingo pretty quickly. You’ve got your basic acronyms, like AP for “Annual Passholder” or DAK for “Disney’s Animal Kingdom.” But then there are some made-up words you should probably know, too, like “MagicBand+,” “Lightning Lane,” and “PhotoPass.” Even Disney executives like to use special lingo, and yes, we keep a secret tally every time CEO Bob Iger uses words like “bullish” or “metaverse.”

But now, a new word has entered Disney’s vocabulary. We first heard the word earlier in 2023, but now, it seems like that one, single word keeps popping up EVERYWHERE! Coincidence? You tell us!

Plans are in the works for expansions at the Disneyland Resort, and that could potentially include a new Avatar-themed land!

During the initial reveal, Iger shared, “We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida. We’re going to put a second one in California.” A land similar to what was created in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in Disney World could make its way to California — and we’ve officially got our first idea of what it could look like!

It all came to a head during a vote at Disney’s 2024 Annual Shareholders Meeting, and now, we finally know who has come out as the victor in this long, drawn-out battle.

The Walt Disney Company has been involved in a heated proxy battle with activist investor Nelson Peltz, who is petitioning to get multiple seats on the Company’s Board of Directors. Trian Partners nominated Peltz and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo to be elected to the Board, but Disney has made it clear they don’t endorse either candidate.

Both Disney and CEO Bob Iger have urged shareholders to vote against Peltz and Rasulo, with some help from cartoon allies and Walt Disney’s own grandchildren. It all comes to a head at the Annual Shareholders Meeting, which is why tomorrow is such a big day for the Walt Disney Company.

Currently, The company is facing off against activist investor Nelson Peltz, who is attempting to get a seat on the Board of Directors. We have seen Disney actively speak out against Pletz — going as far as releasing a video explaining why Peltz would not be a good fit for the company and urging investors to vote for the Disney-backed candidates instead.
