According to one legend, it was inspired by a German-American soldier who was taken prisoner during the Civil War. Starving, he begged a guard to give him one last pickle before he died. The pity pickle gave him the mental and physical strength to live on. Another is in the 1840s, German glassblowers were churning out ornaments shaped like fruits, nuts, and possibly pickles. By the 1880s, F. W. Woolworth Company was importing them and telling their German origin story.</p> <div id="attachment_749181" style="width: 710px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-749181" decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-749181" src="https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/2022-wdw-epcot-whats-new-germany-pavilion-die-weihnachts-ecke-christmas-tree-ornament-pickle-700x546.jpg" alt="" width="700" height="546" srcset="https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/2022-wdw-epcot-whats-new-germany-pavilion-die-weihnachts-ecke-christmas-tree-ornament-pickle-700x546.jpg 700w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/2022-wdw-epcot-whats-new-germany-pavilion-die-weihnachts-ecke-christmas-tree-ornament-pickle-350x273.jpg 350w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/2022-wdw-epcot-whats-new-germany-pavilion-die-weihnachts-ecke-christmas-tree-ornament-pickle-200x156.jpg 200w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/2022-wdw-epcot-whats-new-germany-pavilion-die-weihnachts-ecke-christmas-tree-ornament-pickle-768x599.jpg 768w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/2022-wdw-epcot-whats-new-germany-pavilion-die-weihnachts-ecke-christmas-tree-ornament-pickle.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /><p id="caption-attachment-749181" class="wp-caption-text">Pickle Ornament</p></div> <p>So why do we think Boomers are buying up all the pickles? Things change between generations — preferred attire, societal expectations, etc. But how does this affect Disney World? <strong>We asked our older readers on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/DisneyFoodBlog/posts/pfbid0mwfzUNQVw8BtoTv27CL5FKr8Kgxpejt25r7cjchynasvM4wAxzMHJoNZY1JYd47dl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook</a> to share with us some of the shocking or unexpected things they see the younger generations do in the Disney parks, and WOW was it a hot topic!</strong></p> <p><span id="more-946240"></span></p> <div class='tracking-card cysc-card' data-card='cysc;mkguide_midcontent'><p style="text-align: center;"> <script src="https://embed.lpcontent.net/leadboxes/current/embed.js" async defer></script> <img style="cursor:pointer;max-width: 400px;" data-leadbox-popup="nEsG7YfpP59oddTVnUB6XB" data-leadbox-domain="dfbguide.lpages.co" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/4pWmU8C20HkzLuZHs9NU19oLM_-pVozJUYCTaKyjxTocYhVYqEo8UXHn3zP0cai8WyX9Lu4a_RHo4YB34On5jjc7A9cqE0lhKFc=s0" alt="Click here to subscribe"/> </p></div> <p>Now, to preface, a lot of the comments on the post were sharing that<strong> these could be directed toward any person of any generation</strong>, but a few of them definitely weren’t a thing a few decades ago! This isn’t meant to start arguments of any kind, but it’s interesting to hear what older generations think about how the parks and their attendees have changed!</p> <h2>Cursing</h2> <p>One of the biggest responses we saw was talking about <strong>cursing, or using foul language, when there are kids right nearby.</strong></p> <div id="attachment_939415" style="width: 710px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34.jpg"><img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-939415" decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-939415" src="https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34-700x525.jpg" alt="" width="700" height="525" srcset="https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34-700x525.jpg 700w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34-350x263.jpg 350w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34-200x150.jpg 200w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-WDW-All-Star-Movies-Atmo-34.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a><p id="caption-attachment-939415" class="wp-caption-text">Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort</p></div> <p><strong>Disney parks are family parks</strong>, which means that there are kids around you nearly everywhere you go, and hearing that kind of language isn’t ideal for many parents.
