Pixar Fest Eats: Adventure Tart Inspired by UP! at Jolly Holiday Bakery
The Disney-Pixar film Up! is known for its steadfast commitment to adventuring — and in that spirit, the foodie brains behind Jolly Holiday Bakery‘s contributions to Pixar Fest at Disneyland Resort have created a tart in that same spirit: the Adventure Tart. And while the flavors aren’t going to transport you to another land, it’ll still leave you satisfied with the journey.
The tart appears to be in the spirit of everyone’s favorite childhood breakfast dessert: a Pop Tart. In shape and in composition, the Adventure Tart mimics this cereal-aisle gem. The rectangular Adventure Tart is covered in a thin layer of nondescript glaze on which is attached an iconic image from the film: Carl, Russell, Dug, and the ubiquitous house kept aloft by colorful balloons.
Review: Breakfast at Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park
We love the epically-themed world that is Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park. From the street lights to the vistas of Radiator Springs to the neon, it’s totally immersive and totally fun.
Don’t Forget to Order Ketchup at Whispering Canyon Cafe Breakfast in Disney World!
is a crazy, raucous restaurant full of fun and hijinks! And we love it for that!
And while we do love the food, which is consistently comforting and tasty, we also love the goofy energy of servers who deliver massive cups of soda and tables covered in ketchup bottles. It’s pretty unique.
Review: Breakfast at White Water Snacks at the Grand Californian in Disneyland
If you’re on the hunt for a delicious breakfast before you begin your day at Disneyland Resort, we’ve got some new hits for you to try at White Water Snacks!
White Water Snacks is located at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, which means even if you’re not heading into the parks, you can still check it out.
Atmosphere
White Water Snacks features all the architectural and design details you’d expect from the Grand Californian Hotel. Wood panels cover the walls and ceiling, and wooden shingles provide added interest. Light fixtures are industrial, and you’ll even find a few evergreen trees strategically placed. [Read more…]
Review: Floridian Pancakes and Lobster Thermidor Burger at Grand Floridian Cafe
With so many dining options to try at Walt Disney World, it’s not every trip that I’m able to return to some classic Resort restaurants — particularly if I’m not staying at the Resort in question.
But on a recent visit, I had a meeting that was (thankfully!) at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Located off the lobby in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s main building, the Grand Floridian Cafe offers lovely views of the rose garden and courtyard pool beyond. It’s nice and tranquil, but not at all stuffy. So if you want to check out the Grand Floridian with your entire crew (including kiddos), this is a great place to try it.
The Cafe menu serves up traditional American dishes with a few nods to seafood and Southern fare in celebration of the Sunshine State, and our most recent trip here was for dinner. But a great feature at the Grand Floridian Cafe is the brunch-style menu offering breakfast dishes (in addition to the lunch offerings) through 2:00 pm. Hence the “Pancakes and Burger” mashup we’re reviewing today!
And there’s another big boon for the Grand Floridian Cafe: since it’s on the Resort Monorail loop, it’s easily accessible from Magic Kingdom and a terrific get-away if you need a little break from the park.
Atmosphere
Like every restaurant at the Grand Floridian, the Cafe is simple and elegant. You won’t find over-the-top, Disney-fied theming in terms of characters or bright colors. But you will feel as though you’ve gone back to the Victorian Era (minus all the stiff social constructs). Check in takes place at a desk with white columns and great trim details.
Right away you’ll notice the lattice-and-flowers carpeting, which carries throughout the restaurant. The wood trim also continues into the dining room, where floral wallpaper and tasteful seating await.
Review: Olivia’s Bread Pudding at Good’s Food to Go in Old Key West Resort
You know which Resort Counter Service location has a couple of fun options for breakfast?
Good’s Food to Go at Old Key West Resort!
Now, you may be thinking, “Great! Wait…. where?” And that’s fair enough. Because Good’s Food to Go isn’t exactly what you might call a high profile location. While Olivia’s Cafe — Old Key West’s Table Service restaurant — has earned its great reputation (though it still flies under the radar due to its non-park-centric location), Good’s Food to Go is hardly known at all.
Which makes sense. You’ll soon see that it’s not “destination dining,” per se.
Even though its surroundings reflect the fun and tropical Keys vibe of the Resort (and it’s tucked right next to what is possibly the cutest little bar in all of Disney World, the Gurgling Suitcase)… [Read more…]
Review: NEW! Mickey Birthday Cake Scone in Disney World
Scones often leave me a little… underwhelmed. If they aren’t done well, they can be dry and bread-y and not very sweet. With so many other awesome treats to try (like cupcakes!), I just struggle to muster much enthusiasm for biscuit’s sometimes-dried-out cousin.
But I might have to eat my words — AND a scone! — because I’ve found one to be pretty darn excited about! It’s the Mickey Birthday Cake Scone!!
So, Happy Birthday — or UN-Birthday — to you and me!
It’s perfectly Mickey shaped, with totally munchable ears. A drizzle of hardened glaze adds some sweetness, and the colorful sprinkles are festive. [Read more…]
Review: Cinnamon French Toast Bread Pudding at Epcot’s Sunshine Seasons
You know that feeling when you’ve rope-dropped Soarin’ Around the World… but in order to do that, you had to skip breakfast?
Yeah, that feeling is hunger. And we’ve got just the thing to help you muster your strength for the rest of your day.
It’s a little thing we call Cinnamon French Toast Bread Pudding. Actually, that’s not just us. That’s what the friendly folks at Sunshine Seasons in the Land Pavilion at Epcot call it, too 😉 .
You know Sunshine Seasons as the conveniently located food court with fresh and unusual-by-theme-park-standards grub. We like to keep a close eye on the menus and pastry cases here because it seems like new things are always popping up.
Before the Soarin’ refurb, it used to be home to a Croissant Berry Bread Pudding for breakfast. But that’s since been replaced by the Cinnamon French Toast Bread Pudding. [Read more…]
