Hello, DFB friends!
We spent a day at Magic Kingdom and then popped over to the nearby Monorail Resorts to see what’s new. The list is short, but there are SOME updates, so let’s get going!
It’s the day before Thanksgiving, and we’re pretty used to seeing crowds at Disney World, even at the park’s current 35% capacity. And Disney previously told us that Thanksgiving week was almost 100% booked at that capacity.
So when we went to the parks this morning, we expected to see a lot of people, just like we’ve been seeing in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Instead, we were quite surprised by the LACK of crowds in the parks. Let’s take a look at exactly what we’re experiencing today!
Walt Disney World reopened with new health and safety guidelines to promote physical distancing in the theme parks.
The attractions were modified with distanced seating or received plexiglass barriers between rows. Crowds were considerably lower in the first few months of reopening. As the holidays draw near, crowds are beginning to increase and Disney is adjusting some attraction seating to increase ride capacity. [Read more…]
It’s been a big news day for Disney, and we’ve been busy reporting everything from today’s Quarterly Earnings Call.
During the call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed that Disney World has increased park capacity from 25% to 35% and that the company plans to spend $1 billion on health and safety measures at its parks in 2021.
We’ve seen crowd levels changing at the Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs since they reopened a few months ago.
We’ve also seen Disney Springs reach capacity recently. That got us thinking, if you’ve got a movie ticket for the Disney Springs AMC Theatre or a dining reservation in Disney Springs, and the area reaches capacity, what happens?
It looks like it’s a busy night at Disney Springs!
Since Disney World reopened, they have limited capacity in the theme parks, Disney Springs, and other locations across property. And while we’ve seen individual stores in Disney Springs hit capacity on numerous occasions, it has been much less common for Disney Springs itself to reach the capacity limit.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently shared some big news about the company’s plans for the future.
In a recent interview with CNBC, Chapek revealed that the company plans to prioritize Disney+ as the focus of the entertainment division in the future. He also announced that the company will be hosting a virtual Investor Day later this year.
Since Disney World reopened several months ago, we’ve seen the crowd levels change.
Particularly around holiday weekends, we’ve seen Park Pass Reservations filling up and we expect it will be a similar situation as we approach Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Recently, Governor DeSantis announced that Florida would be moving into Phase 3 of the reopening plan, and now we’ve got an update on DeSantis’ view of the new rules and how they apply to major events in Florida.
It looks like lots of guests were ready to do some shopping in Magic Kingdom today!
From spotting some new Christmas ornaments to walking through the reopened graveyard in the Haunted Mansion queue, we had a busy day at Magic Kingdom! And it looks like things were hustling and bustling on Main Street, U.S.A., too.
When will Disneyland reopen? It’s a BIG question we’ve yet to get the answer to.
Recently, we’ve seen some signs that could show Disneyland is getting prepared for its reopening, whenever that comes. But, what will Disneyland look like when it does reopen? How many guests can we expect to see walking through those gates? Some new data analysis is starting to give us a better idea.
