There is so much happening in the movie-themed park thanks to major Muppet Courtyard changes, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s upcoming retheme, and two new shows heading to the stage soon! Recently, Hollywood Studios had us even more surprised with special friends greeting us at the gate.
“The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular” aired on ABC on December 1st with lots of fanfare and fun!

The show was full of holiday cheer, dancing, singing, and an exciting announcement! In the middle of all the excitement of the holidays, Disney slipped in a fun announcement about upcoming shows coming to Disney World next year. We knew a new Disney Villains show was coming to Hollywood Studios, but now we know the official name of this show!
Disney World will be undergoing a bunch of changes over the next several years.
Sunset Showcase
Some attractions will be closing to make way for new ones coming. Recently, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed its doors for the last time as a brand-new Villains show will be coming to Sunset Showcase. The new show is set to premiere next summer, and we have a new update!
Disney Cruise Line is BUSY cranking out new offerings these days!
Helmsman Mickey on the Disney Magic
The new island destination Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point just opened this summer, and now we’re anticipating the first sailing of the next new cruise ship, the Disney Treasure. It sets sail this December, and now Disney Cruise Line has revealed a key detail about the boat!
A brand NEW Disney Cruise Line ship is in the works and we’ve got an exciting update!

The Disney Treasure Cruise Ship is set for delivery in 2024 and will celebrate Walt’s love of adventure. The design is inspired by a gilded palace, will feature a statue of Aladdin and Jasmine on the Magic Carpet in the grand hall, and will even give guests the chance to see Minnie in a NEW look! But now we’ve got more news about this ship.
Seeing a Disney character in Disney World is a BELOVED pastime, right up there with eating Mickey Pretzels and riding the PeopleMover!

Make no mistake, there are LOTS of classic characters we NEVER get tired of spotting (and HUGGING!) in Disney World, but we also get excited about spotting a RARE character!
There are some incredible Disney-based video games out there, like Kingdom Hearts, or does anyone else remember the incredibly difficult 1994 The Lion King game? If you’re one of the lucky ones to remember Adventures in the Magic Kingdom though, our hats are off to you.

In 1990, Adventures in Magic Kingdom was released by Capcom for Nintendo. (We mean that old gray box with controllers ON CORDS with the cartridges we all thought blowing into would make work better. Just ask your mom or dad. They know. 
). While it was not a masterpiece, it was fun for many 90s kids. One game just so happened to have players answer Disney trivia. When we recently took a look at the trivia NOW, we were surprised by how difficult some of the questions were!! So let’s test how much of a Disney trivia question expert you are!

And the Disney Villains fit those descriptions very well (just look at the Evil Queen as a witch…the stuff of nightmares!). We know the villains are bad, but they are so fun to watch! We love when Disney themes things after the villains, from spirit jerseys to food to Mickey ears. And now, we’ve spotted a special treat for Halloween that showcases the villains perfectly!
Disneyland spent most of last year closed due to the global pandemic. So its guests didn’t really get much of a 65th anniversary party, although Disney did release a ton of 65th anniversary merchandise.
Happy birthday, Disneyland!
Disneyland reopened several months ago, though, and today marks its 66th anniversary! And so far, we’ve celebrated with a very well-dressed caramel apple. But Disneyland also ended up throwing a party during a special cavalcade today!
