Magic Kingdom
With all the Disney Parks being closed for the first time EVER, Disney is having to figure out the best way to keep moving forward right now. Although Bob Iger , Bob Chapek, and Rebecca Campbell have opened up about the state of the company, Josh D’Amaro is now giving us some insight into Disney World’s situation.
With the parks currently closed, Disney World and Disneyland have chosen to furlough several Cast and Crew Members beginning April 19th.

More than half of Disney World’s employees were furloughed through the latest agreement with the Service Trades Council Union. We also saw furloughs of other unionized musicians and electrical workers, but now an agreement has been reached regarding unionized performers.
If you’ve been keeping up with the Disney news, you probably know that Disney is in an extensive process of negotiations with workers unions to furlough all non-essential employees at the Disney parks. Most recently, this culminated in an agreement on terms of furlough for more than 43,000 Disney World employees.

In response to the upcoming furlough, many Disney Cast Members are staging at-home protests. However, their protests aren’t directed at Disney; instead, they’re taking aim at the Florida unemployment system.

Disney has been hard at work negotiating the terms of furlough with different unions representing Cast Members. So far, they’ve reached agreements with the American Federations of Musicians Local 389, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2088, and the Independent Employee Service Association.
Disneyland Main Entrance – Closed
Disneyland has since reached agreements with another 10 unions on the furloughs, set to begin April 19th. These unions represent food and beverage workers, pyrotechnicians, sound mechanics, stage managers, stage technicians, and other Cast Members in Disneyland.
