Disney Drastically SHORTENED the Flower and Garden Festival, and We Think We Know Why

You may be familiar with the various festivals that EPCOT puts on throughout the year.

EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival

These festivals include the Festival of the Holidays, Festival of the Arts, Food & Wine Festival, and the Flower & Garden Festival. So far this year, in 2024, we got to experience the Festival of the Arts from January 12th through February 19th, 2024, and shortly after the Flower & Garden festival began. The Flower & Garden Festival is currently underway and running until May 27th. However, the run time of this spring festival is considerably shorter than it was in 2023, and we have a sneaking suspicion that we might know why.

Tons of Big Changes Are Coming to Disney World This Summer

Summer is only a few months away, and Disney World has A LOT coming down the pipeline.

Some of these changes we’ve known about for a while, like the new cabins coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and the fact that Test Track will close at some point to be refurbished (but we don’t know when), not to mention that Dinoland U.S.A. will also be transforming sometime in the near future. But recently, Disney announced even MORE exciting news that we 100% know WILL be happening this summer!

Did We Just Get a Secret CLUE About When the 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Will Begin?

We just had a big day of announcements for Walt Disney World. There are special character meet and greets coming to BOTH Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new DRONE show is coming to Disney Springs, and a new seating area opened in Animal Kingdom.

We love a good EPCOT festival!

Plus, we got some REALLY exciting news regarding a new Encanto show and the OFFICIAL OPENING DATE for CommuniCore Hall and Plaza Festival Area in EPCOT! It was A LOT, and we are still recovering from all the news!

Who turned on those alarms? Turn OFF those alarms! Phew, anyway… we have some BIG news coming out of EPCOT today! We’ve been witnessing the biggest (and longest) EPCOT transformation in real-time. While we’ve seen some things slowly being unveiled throughout the last few years, we are still seeing a TON of construction walls throughout World Celebration. OPENING DATE ANNOUNCED for CommuniCore Hall and Plaza Festival Area in EPCOT

The EPCOT Transformation is finally almost complete!

Disney announced that this long construction project would eventually be coming to an end, we just didn’t know exactly when. Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana has opened, but there are still a few boxes Disney needs to check off its list. And now, we have a HUGE update on some of them!

As we are nearing the end of the Festival of the Arts and the beginning of the Flower and Garden Festival, we have our eyes set even further into the future.

We love every EPCOT festival, but one has clearly become our favorite, for obvious reasons. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is literally everything we dream about — food. An entire festival for food is our forté. But we’re wondering if our favorite festival will look a little differently this year. The 2024 Food & Wine Festival might be the BEST ONE YET for four important reasons: it could be even longer than usual, it might be the FIRST to utilize the NEW festival areas in EPCOT, food and drink demos and seminars may return, and we might get some all-new entertainment!

Park pass reservations are gone for most Disney World visitors. All-day park hopping is back. The Disney Dining Plan has returned. Even more changes are coming later in the year: Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom will reopen with a brand NEW show this summer, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open this summer, too. Things are also changing with EPCOT’s festivals, and we think this year’s Food & Wine Festival is going to be a LOT different.

We’re Already Seeing Serious Changes For EPCOT Festivals in 2024

This might just be the year of HUGE changes for Disney World.

In January alone, we saw the end of park pass reservations for most theme park visitors, the return of all-day park hopping, AND the return of the Disney Dining Plan. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in Magic Kingdom in 2024. PLUS Country Bear Jamboree will be reopening with a brand NEW show in the summer. We’re also starting to see a lot of huge changes for EPCOT’s festivals.
