Halloween Treats in Walt Disney World

Halloween treats continue to materialize around Walt Disney World in preparation for the fun this Fall. We reported on a few a couple of weeks ago, and Heather showcased some in Disneyland on Thursday; but there are even more to enjoy during this spooky season!

Like last year, the Main Street Bakery has created some inventive goodies to celebrate the season.

Gasparilla Bakery

Bedtime snacks that received the most shout-outs were Mickey Rice Krispie Treats, Popcorn and large bakery-style cookies. Honorable mentions go to Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches and Mickey Ice Cream Bars.

(Miniature) Additions at the Confectionery

Found a couple of mini items at the Main Street Confectionery in Disney World today that I had to share!

Cookie Bites
First — three kinds of cookie bites. These look just like the giant “normal sized” cookies you can get in the parks, but they’ve been shrunk down to what many of us would consider to be the size of the standard cookies we bake at home. However, at Disney, these are considered bite-size!

Disneyland Halloween Treats

A trip to Downtown Disney in Anaheim is never complete without a visit to Marceline’s Confectionery. Named after Walt Disney’s hometown, this yummy paradise has everything your sweet tooth desires. We usually go for the chocolate chip cookies, but this time of the year, we can’t resist the Halloween treats.

Touring Plans had a foodie kind of week on their blog! Two of my favorite bloggers showcased favorite treats in Disney World and a meal at the 50’s Prime Time Cafe!

The English Disney Blog reviews dinner at the California Grill.

Chip and Co. posted a video about the central Disneyland Resort bakery and the work they do throughout the resort.

WDW Public Affairs released info about a Disney World-sponsored Chef’s Gala raises $170,000 for a local United Way Chapter. Thanks to StitchKingdom.com for the tip.

The Disney Website has a couple of fun interactive games for kids that will help them learn about food groups and how to choose healthy foods. I liked Mickey’s Mess Hall and Lilo’s Luau — just watch the animation and click to train for and play the games.

Hello! Chef BigFatPanda here! How are you? Don’t answer cause I can’t hear you, but I’ll assume you’re reading this with peachy vigor. I like that. Peachy Vigor! I’m going to use that from now on.

So, did you hear? I am so excited to get my own column here on the Disney Food Blog. No longer am I a guest, but a cast member (or whatever AJ wishes to call it). Thanks so much to everyone!

I wanted to do something a bit different for this post, so I chose some fairly simple yet overlooked Disney recipes that can truly be incorporated into a delicious summer meal. I am going to make the Barbecue Sauce from the Flame Tree Barbecue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, grilled Asparagus just as they make it in Disney’s Grand Californian Resort’s Storyteller Café, and Coquina cookies, originally from the Cinnamon Bay Bakery at Disney World’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Add these Disney recipes to a rice, pasta, or potato side and you have a complete and colorful summer meal just in time for Summer Nightastic!

As usual, the recipe’s instructions will be bolded for easy reference should you wish to print this out and skip my banter.

Gluten Free and Sugar Free Cookies at Disney World

Just wanted to quickly share this great news. Minnie’s Bake Shop, a new line of baked goods being sold at Disney parks stores, is now selling family-size packages of Gluten Free and Sugar Free cookies.

This is in addition to some freshly-baked gluten free and sugar free items I found for sale at several bakeries (including the Marketplace in Disney’s Beach Club Resort) throughout the Disney World parks.

Disney parks have long been ahead of the curve in anticipating guests’ needs, and ensuring a wealth of gluten-free and sugar-free options is just the beginning.
