December is easily one of the busiest months of the year in Disney World.
The holidays are HERE!
However, it’s typically busier toward the end of the month with the Christmas and New Year holidays. So imagine our surprise when we walk into Disney World today and it’s, like, bonkers busy.

Disney World is celebrating BIG for the holidays this year with the return of the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays and the all-new Jollywood Nights event. With all of these exciting things come lots of crowds! That is apparent through the wait times too, although we were a bit surprised at what is going on at Disney’s Hollywood Studios right now…
It’s been a BUSY week in Disney World, to say the least.
Getting busier
That was to be expected, though. It’s the week of Thanksgiving after all! Most kids are out of school and it’s a popular time to travel to the Most Magical Place on Earth. We’ve noticed the crowds which caused some Mobile Order challenges and the price of Genie+ reached its highest point again due to demand. The skip-the-line service even sold out! But what did the wait times look like throughout the week? It’s time to find out.

It’s beginning to look a lot like crowds in Disney World
It means things are getting SUPER busy in the parks. We’ve already seen some park pass reservations completely gone for the week. We’ve seen record-high prices for Genie+. But there’s another thing you may NOT be thinking of that you need to consider this week: when to order food via Mobile Order.
With Thanksgiving just a few short days away, the holiday season is getting kicked into high gear.
Holidays in Magic Kingdom
With the holiday season comes dense CROWDS, as folks are headed to the parks to celebrate. On November 20th, we saw these crowds show up in full force. Genie+ was at the record-high price of $35, and STILL sold out for Magic Kingdom and for the Multi-Park option. Oh, and Park Pass Reservations filled up for Magic Kingdom. After heading into the park the morning of November 20th, we found out just how REAL those crowds were.Â

The festive decor, the delicious seasonal treats, and the exclusive parties — Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights — can draw huge crowds to the park. However, when looking at the average wait times we noticed something strange…the wait times are trending DOWN!
We’ve eaten countless snacks, we’ve stayed up way too late, and we probably have permanent dots behind our eyelids from staring at Christmas lights in the dark…but we’re finally ready to declare a winner in the holiday battle royale at Disney World!
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2023
The holiday season kicked off just a few days ago with the start of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom. Then, just two days later, Hollywood Studios hosted the first-ever Disney Jollywood Nights event. Our team attended BOTH parties this week and experienced nearly everything they have to offer, and after plenty of reflection, we’ve got a hot take to share.
We were at the FIRST night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for 2023, and we learned and experienced a LOT!
