The 2015 Chocolate Easter Egg Display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort isn’t the only sure sign of spring around here these days! Easter treats have been “hopping” up everywhere around Disney World Resort to celebrate this weekend’s holiday — not to mention the remainder of the Spring Break season through the end of next week.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a holiday at Disney World without all sorts of specialty cupcakes, and Easter is no egg-ception. (I. Can’t. Stop. Doing. That!). At Epcot, a Chocolate Cupcake with marshmallow filling and marshmallow buttercream frosting can be found at Fountain View from now through April 11th, and at Sunshine Seasons for a very limited run on April 4th and 5th.
This beauty of a Carrot Cake Cupcake topped with a mini Bunny Macaron will be at the Contemporary Resort only through April 5th! The inside has a pineapple-coconut filling and it’s all topped with white chocolate buttercream frosting along with toasted coconut and — hooray! — jelly beans!
While there, be sure to check out the Contemporary Resort’s display of Chocolate Bunnies and decorated Easter Eggs presented by the Resort’s pastry chefs on the fourth floor!
BoardWalk Bakery boasts its own Easter Cupcake: vanilla cake filled with raspberry panna cotta, topped off with a coconut nest filled with jelly beans.
And, of course, you can check out spots at [Read more…]

It’s one of my favorite times of the year at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort!
Every spring in the weeks preceding Easter, the Grand Floridian Bakery Team is given the opportunity to create some absolutely spectacular Easter Eggs for guests to enjoy. And the best part? The Eggs are made of CHOCOLATE. There are other ingredients involved, too, such as fondant, icing, and cocoa butter. But no matter what they are made of, they are all edible!
The Easter Eggs have been a Grand Floridian tradition for 19 years, but this is just the fourth year that the eggs have been on display for every guest who passes through the Grand Floridian lobby.
Something new this year… previously the Eggs were all displayed in one row directly at the lobby entrance. This year, the eggs are grouped in smaller displays in different areas around the lobby. Since some of the eggs are preserved from year to year (you may recognize some familiar ones from the 2014 Easter Egg display), the collection just keeps on growing!
The Easter Eggs are on display through April 10th. But in case Walt Disney World isn’t part of your 2015 spring break plans, we wanted to bring the Eggs to you once again this year!
One of the centerpiece eggs for 2015 is an edible replica of Cinderella’s Golden Coach.
The classic Disney animated version of Cinderella received a tribute as well.
In an echo of the fountain in the lobby of the Grand Floridian Disney Vacation Club Villas, the penguins from Mary Poppins have come out to play!
There are no shortage of Disney characters on display, including the entire Toy Story gang.
Peter Pan tops off this egg complete with a map of Neverland.
Never one to be outdone, Tinkerbell tops her own egg, too!
And what’s a day at Disney World anymore without spotting this face 😉 ?
Nothing against Queen Elsa, but it is totally awesome to see some less-heralded characters get a little love this year, too. I think I audibly gasped when I saw [Read more…]

We’ve got updates this go ’round from several corners of Disney World, ranging from a few small menu changes to big construction projects. But we’re starting with something that is popping up all over no matter where in the World you are: Easter treats! Please join us for another trip to see What’s New!
From bunny ears to Easter Eggs, we’ve just got to give you a few glances at the Easter snacks popping (or hopping!) up absolutely everywhere around Disney World.
These particular goodies were spotted in the Main Street Confectionery, but similarly-themed sweets can be found through the Easter holiday at locations such as Big Top Treats, Sweet Spells, Goofy’s Candy Co. and the Candy Cauldron.
And you’ll find this White Chocolate Raspberry bunny-ear cupcake at Quick Service locations all over Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
The Lemon Blueberry Cupcake at BoardWalk Bakery has received a spring holiday makeover, too!
We can’t resist giving you one more look at one of the gorgeous chocolate eggs in the Annual Easter Egg Display at the Grand Floridian.
These works of art will be on display through April 22nd, and they are worth a special trip to the Grand Floridian if you’re enjoying your Spring Break in Disney World. But if you can’t make it in person, you can check out the full display here.
Progress towards the future Disney Springs continues to move forward in Downtown Disney.
Can you remember when the upcoming location for the West Side Starbucks was both a Wetzel’s Pretzels and a Haagen Dazs Ice Cream store?
Well, their new home is “In Progress,” too! The construction site for the new Wetzel’s Pretzels and Haagen Dazs location is [Read more…]

Shazam!!! After spending a lovely (literally — the weather was gorgeous) weekend in Disneyland, I’m pleased to report that I finally got to try one of the best seasonal Disney treats ever created! The Disneyland handmade Easter egg!!!!!
These quietly slipped back into the Candy Palace this year, and I was so SO excited to get my hands on one. Heather got to review them year before last, lucky duck!
Check out the vintage, I-got-this-at-my-local-hometown-candy-store box!
Of course, I snagged the best flavor ever: Peanut Butter Fudge. They also have Vanilla Nut and Chocolate Nut, which you can see reviewed here.
Of course, you might also choose yours based on the sugar confection decoration on top. Mine was a little duck in a bonnet (nope, not Donald, but the same colors!).
So, I hope when you get your egg you’ve got a free night available where you can just [Read more…]

Upon entering Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort, you’ll find something that may distract you from the sights of the lobby, as stunning as it is. From now through April 22, you can enjoy the Third Annual Easter Egg Display!
And it’s certainly something to see, because these aren’t just any Easter Eggs… these are 9-12 pound chocolate Easter Eggs created and crafted by Disney Chefs!
For those who may not be able to catch this display in person, we thought we’d bring it to you 🙂 .
As the sign states, the Grand Floridian Easter Egg tradition has held for 18 years; however, the eggs could previously be seen only in the Resort’s restaurants. But now, for the third year in a row, they are on display in the lobby for everyone to enjoy. It’s definitely a treat to see what the Bakery Team comes up with!
As you look at these creations, it’s fun to note that every egg is decorated with “edible products such as modeling chocolate, fondant, sugar floral, royal icing, colored cocoa butter and sculpted sugar art pieces.”
Yep — it’s all edible!
Chefs are given a blank “canvas,” along with the freedom to bring to life whatever vision they wish. So, you’ll see that the decorated eggs range from classic Easter themes…
… to the truly [Read more…]
